Thank you KPRC2 / Click2Houston and Gage Goulding for interviewing me. We appreciate you sharing our story. The data center has chosen to look elsewhere for development. We will continue to advocate for our residents and our neighboring communities.
ICYMI: Alvin City Council voted unanimously to oppose data center development for now—passing a resolution that pauses support within city limits while the city completes more studies and impact reviews. At the June 4 City Council Meeting, Mayor Gabe Adame and Alvin City Council proudly proclaimed June 4, 2026, as Carol Nelson Day in honor of Mrs. Nelson’s more than 30 years of dedicated service to Alvin ISD.
From teacher and librarian to principal, Associate Superintendent, and Superintendent, Mrs. Nelson has made a lasting impact on generations of students, families, staff, and the Alvin community.
The City of Alvin extends its sincere congratulations and best wishes to Mrs. Nelson on her well-earned retirement.

En la reunión del Concejo Municipal del 4 de junio, el alcalde Gabe Adame y el Concejo Municipal de Alvin proclamaron orgullosamente el 4 de junio de 2026 como el Día de Carol Nelson, en honor a sus más de 30 años de servicio dedicado a Alvin ISD.
Desde maestra y bibliotecaria hasta directora, superintendente asociada y superintendente, la Sra. Nelson ha dejado un impacto duradero en generaciones de estudiantes, familias, personal y en la comunidad de Alvin.

The Alvin City Council has approved a resolution opposing the construction and development of data centers within Alvin city limits until additional information, impact analysis, and regulatory considerations can be fully evaluated.
This resolution reflects the City’s commitment to responsible growth, infrastructure planning, transparency, and protecting Alvin’s long-term community character. City leadership wants to ensure potential impacts to electrical demand, water usage, wastewater capacity, drainage, transportation, emergency services, environmental resources, and overall livability are carefully reviewed before moving forward with any future consideration of this type of development.

El Concejo Municipal de Alvin aprobó una resolución en oposición a la construcción y desarrollo de centros de datos dentro de los límites de la ciudad de Alvin hasta que se pueda evaluar información adicional, análisis de impacto y consideraciones regulatorias.
Esta resolución refleja el compromiso de la Ciudad con el crecimiento responsable, la planificación de infraestructura, la transparencia y la protección del carácter de nuestra comunidad a largo plazo.
