All proceeds support Holiday Heroes (Shop With a Cop) - a program in partnership with Bellevue Public Schools that helps children in need. Our officers and firefighters volunteer their time to shop with kids and families, making sure they have warm clothes and a little Christmas magic under the tree. 🎄❤️

Free and anonymous (no questions asked). Bring your unused or expired prescription medications for safe and proper disposal.

𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐈𝐧 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬: 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐮𝐞 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐬
This past spring, Bellevue Police Officers Flanagan and Parsons demonstrated unwavering commitment and compassion while responding to a call for assistance in the Olde Towne Bellevue area.

The officers were asked to help locate a man who was believed to be in crisis and at imminent risk of taking his own life. After Officer Flanagan located his abandoned vehicle near American Heroes Park, the officers spoke with hikers who had seen him on nearby trails. They then began searching the wooded area on foot while the Omaha Police Department’s Able 1 helicopter provided aerial assistance.

With the assistance of Able 1’s crew, the man was located in a wooded area near the riverbank. Officers Flanagan and Parsons quickly reached him, and Officer Parsons acted immediately to save him from a life-threatening situation. Through the officers’ swift intervention, the man was revived and received further medical treatment.

Because these officers remained invested in the search, a life was saved.

Their determination, teamwork, and decisive actions in a critical moment reflect the very best of public service. We are proud to recognize Officers Flanagan and Parsons for their outstanding work and their commitment to protecting the lives of those in our community.

NEWS RELEASE - HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at approximately 9:09 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 2200 block of Whitted Drive, following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect, later identified as 23-year-old Cody Simons, still on scene.

Officers also located an adult male victim laying in the driveway, with gunshot wounds to the torso. Bellevue Fire personnel initiated lifesaving measures, and the victim, who was in critical condition, was transported by rescue squad to UNMC. Despite medical efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as 82-year-old Esteban Garcia of Bellevue.

Simons was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Sarpy County Correctional Facility for First Degree Murder; Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony; and Discharge of a Fi***rm Within City Limits.

This incident is still under investigation, and no further details will be released at this time.

🍎 On World Teachers’ Day, the Bellevue Police Department would like to say a heartfelt thank-you to the teachers who make a difference in our community every day.

Thank you for the patience you show, the encouragement you give, and the countless hours you spend helping your students succeed. For noticing when a child is struggling. For celebrating the small victories. And for believing in students who are still learning to believe in themselves.

Your lessons reach far beyond the classroom. You help our children learn kindness, respect, responsibility, and the courage to try again, qualities that strengthen our entire community.

To all teachers: we see your dedication, we value our partnership with you, and we are grateful for the care you give our children. 💙

**ADDED AT 2:25 PM: Hwy 370 eastbound is open around the 25th St area. Hwy 370 westbound is still closed. 25th St north and south from Hwy 370 is still closed. 

Multiple roads in Bellevue were impacted by last night’s heavy rain. There are road closures in various locations across the city. Closures will be reevaluated as the day progresses and water recedes, as well as when any obstructions are cleared. Please be patient as you drive today. Traffic has been backed up on many major roadways in Bellevue, and chances are the shortcut you’re looking for to continue on your route is not available either. Please be patient with City of Bellevue employees as they attempt to keep you safe and clean up roadways. Don’t drive around road closure signs, they are there for your safety. We would rather you get to your destination late than not at all.
