Strong neighborhoods take strong leadership, and Ms. Walladean Streeter shows what that looks like every day.
As President of the Bush Hills Neighborhood, she has helped grow the Bush Hills Connection Complex into a true gathering place for neighbors. It’s a space for events, fresh food, and connection, with raised garden beds and a community farm at the center. 🌱🏡

With support from our Community Resources Services Division, she built a five-year plan and completed it in just four. That’s what commitment looks like.

She’s still building, and Bush Hills is better because of it. 💚

We invest in local nonprofits because they are closest to community needs.

Through grantmaking, COBCD supports organizations providing housing services, programs, and resources that strengthen neighborhoods across Birmingham.

These investments help turn public funds into real support for residents and lasting community impact. Hear from Deputy Director, Randi Foy, in this video!

Through housing, neighborhood investment, and community partnerships, this work helps create places where residents can live, grow, and feel supported. 🏡🤝🌱

It’s not just about programs. It’s about building stronger neighborhoods every day. 💙
