As a wrap-up to Black History Month, we attended a South Side tour led by Chicago Historian Shermann "Dilla" Thomas, who shared our city's rich history. Pictured are two stops on the tour: Emmett Till's childhood home and the YMCA, where Negro History Week, now known as Black History Month, was conceptualized.

To continue a strong start to the new year, mentees were introduced to Bag Talk Academy with Taka Buranda, where they learned the life equation and worked together in teams for an interactive budgeting activity. Later in the session, mentees learned new information about hygiene and personal care from Dr. David Anyadike.

Thank you to our presenters for helping our mentees start the year prepared, confident, and informed.

As we enter this season of gratitude, we’re reminded of the power of generosity. We are thankful for a community that shows up, uplifts, and gives hope, especially to families who deserve joy during the holidays.

This year, we invite you to help us make the season brighter by purchasing a ticket and bringing a toy to our Holiday Toy Drive. Each year, we collect thousands of dollars' worth of toys, coats, and gift donations.

Funds raised to support this act of community kindness and engagement are used to purchase additional gifts and personal necessities for women and children in homeless shelters, community outreach organizations, and health centers, making the holiday season brighter for children and families experiencing a difficult period in their lives.

Your gift can spark a smile, inspire imagination, and remind others that they are seen and cared for.
