A GLASS OF MILK

One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to
pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left,
and he was hungry.

He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he
lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door.

Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water! She thought he
looked hungry so she brought him a large glass of milk. He drank
it so slowly, and then asked, How much do I owe you?"

You don't owe me anything, she replied. "Mother taught us to
never accept payment for a kindness." Then I thank you from my
heart he said.

As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically,
but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to
give up and quit.

Many year's later that same young woman became critically ill. The
local doctors were baffled, so they sent her to the big city, where
they called in specialists to study her rare disease.

Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard
the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes.

Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room.
Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her. He recognized her
at once.

He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to
save her life. From that day on he gave special attention to her case,
and after a long struggle, the battle was won.

Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for
approval. He looked at the bill, and then wrote something down at the
bottom, and the bill was sent to her room.

The woman was afraid to open it, for she was sure it would take the
rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something
caught her attention at the bottom of the bill. She read these words�

"Paid in full with one glass of milk"

Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: "Thank You
God, Your love has spread broad through human hearts and hands."

Now there's a saying which goes something like this: Bread cast on
the water comes back to you. The good deed you do today may
benefit you or someone you love at the least expected time. Even if
you never do that deed again, at least you will have made the world
a better place�.And after all, isn't that what life is all about?

AND BY THE ALMIGHTY WHO WILL BLESS YOU WITH
BLESSINGS OF HEAVEN ABOVE.

God's many blessings continue to please us, so we
should do our best to please God as well!

We do that by obeying His Commandments and by
loving our neighbors as ourselves. For our Savior Jesus
Christ said, "YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD
WITH ALL YOUR HEART, WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, WITH
WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH, AND WITH ALL YOUR
MIND; AND YOUR NEIGHBOUR AS YOURSELF.
( LUKE 10:27 ) THIS IS THE FIRST AND GREATEST
COMMANDMENT. AND THE SECOND IS LIKE IT:
'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.�
ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS HANG ALL THE
LAW AND THE PROPHETS." ( MATTHEW 22:38-40 )

So do your best each day to live by God's
Commandments, and share your love with others so; THAT YOU
MAY WALK WORTHY OF THE LORD, FULLY PLEASING
HIM, BEING FRUITFUL IN EVERY GOOD WORK AND
INCREASING IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD.
( COLOSSIANS 1:10 )

Now may you; GROW IN THE GRACE AND
KNOWLEDGE OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS
CHRIST. TO HIM BE GLORY BOTH NOW AND
FOREVER! AMEN. ( 2 PETER 3:18 )

AT THAT TIME THE DISCIPLES CAME TO JESUS AND ASKED,
"WHO IS THE GREATEST IN THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN?" HE
CALLED A LITTLE CHILD TO HIM, AND PLACED THE CHILD
AMONG THEM. AND HE SAID: "TRULY I TELL YOU, UNLESS
YOU CHANGE AND BECOME LIKE LITTLE CHILDREN, YOU WILL
NEVER ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. THEREFORE,
WHOEVER TAKES THE LOWLY POSTION OF THIS CHILD IS THE
GREATEST IN THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.
( MATTHEW 18:1- 4 *NIV )

Jesus used a small child to help Him make a point with His
Disciples, and to us as well!. The point was not to be childish,
but rather childlike, with humble and sincere hearts!

When we think of it, a little child is humble and also has a
pure heart! Further, they are innocent of the evils of the World,
and trusting! For a child trusts whatever a parent tells them.
They have no preconceived ideas in their mind, and are excited
to learn all that they can with honest curiosity.

When we apply that to ourselves, it means that we must also
be humble, and trust God with all our heart and place all of our
faith in Him. We must also have the desire to learn His precious
Word as well, believing it without preconceived ideas of our own.
For it is written; TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART
AND LEAN NOT ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING.
( PROVERBS 3:5 )

For then you will; GROW IN THE GRACE AND KNOWLEDGE
OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. TO HIM BE
GLORY BOTH NOW AND FOREVER! AMEN.
( 2 PETER 3:18 )

THE STEPS OF A GOOD MAN ARE ORDERED BY THE
LORD, AND HE DELIGHTS IN HIS WAY. THOUGH HE
FALL, HE SHALL NOT BE UTTERLY CAST DOWN; FOR
THE LORD UPHOLDS HIM WITH HIS HAND.
( PSALM 37:23-24 *NKJV )

Now when we first learned to walk, we often fell down,
but did we stay down? NO, we reached out to the extended
hand of our mother or father, who helped us back on our
feet. This happened often until we finally learned to walk on
our own.

We can learn to walk with our Heavenly Father's helping
hand the very same way! For then when we fall, we can
reach out to God through prayer, and accept His merciful
helping hand as well! After all it is written; THE LORD LIFTS UP
THE HUMBLE; HE CASTS THE WICKED DOWN TO THE
GROUND. ( PSALM 147:6 )

Also written; HE SHALL GIVE HIS ANGELS CHARGE
OVER YOU, TO KEEP YOU IN ALL YOUR WAYS.
IN THEIR HANDS THEY SHALL BEAR YOU UP, LEST
YOU DASH YOUR FOOT AGAINST A STONE.
( PSALM 91:11-12 )

So walk with God everyday and you will find; THE LORD
YOUR GOD IN YOUR MIDST, HE WILL REJOICE OVER
YOU WITH GLADNESS, HE WILL QUIET YOU WITH HIS
LOVE, HE WILL REJOICE OVER YOU WITH SINGING.
( ZEPHANIAH 3:17 )

Now my friend, have a great day knowing that the loving
hand of God is always there ready to help you, no matter
what you may be facing! Amen.

RETURN TO THE LORD YOUR GOD, FOR HE IS GRACIOUS
AND COMPASSIONATE, SLOW TO ANGER AND ABOUNDING
IN LOVE.

There are times when our faith runs thin and we may even
find ourselves walking far from God. When that happens
it is because we moved away from God, not because
He moved away from us.

Now if that happens to you remember it is written; IF FROM THERE
YOU SEEK THE LORD YOUR GOD, YOU WILL FIND HIM IF
YOU SEEK HIM WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND WITH ALL
YOUR SOUL. ( DEUTERONOMY 4:29 )

After all, our Heavenly Father is always there with open
arms to welcome us back, and His love for us can never be
shaken. For it is also written; THOUGH THE MOUNTAINS BE
SHAKEN AND THE HILLS BE REMOVED, YET MY
UNFAILING LOVE FOR YOU WILL NOT BE SHAKEN NOR
MY COVENANT OF PEACE BE REMOVED,� SAYS THE
LORD, WHO HAS COMPASSION ON YOU.
( ISAIAH 54:10 )

So if you ever find yourself walking far from God
remember that your return trip back to Him starts with a
prayer, and with all of your love. Now in closing, MAY THE GRACE
OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST BE WITH YOUR SPIRIT,
BROTHERS AND SISTERS. AMEN. ( GALATIANS 6:18

ALL THESE BLESSINGS WILL COME UPON YOU AND
ACCOMPANY YOU IF YOU OBEY THE LORD YOUR GOD:
THE COUNTRY. YOU WILL BE BLESSED WHEN YOU
COME IN AND BLESSED WHEN YOU GO OUT.

THEREFORE HUMBLE YOURSELVES UNDER THE MIGHTY
HAND OF GOD, THAT HE MAY EXALT YOU IN DUE TIME,
CASTING ALL YOUR CARE UPON HIM, FOR HE CARES
FOR YOU.
( 1 PETER 5:6-7 *NKJV )

It is easy to let our pride take over and cause us to be
concerned about our position and status, and we then
long for recognition and praise for what we do. There is
danger in that for it is written; PRIDE GOES BEFORE
DESTRUCTION, AND AN HAUGHTY SPIRIT BEFORE
A FALL. ( PROVERBS 16:18 )

Therefore it is important for a Child of God to remember
that God's recognition is far more important than human
praise! For it is written; GOD RESISTS THE PROUD, BUT
GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE. ( 1 PETER 5:5 )
After all; A MAN'S PRIDE WILL BRING HIM LOW, BUT
THE HUMBLE IN SPIRIT WILL RETAIN HONOR.
( PROVERBS 29:23 )

Now becoming humble before God is not self-degradation,
but is a realistic assessment and commitment to believe that
God can and will exalt us when the time is right!

So have patience and remember that it is written;
HUMBLE YOURSELVES IN THE SIGHT OF THE LORD,
AND HE WILL LIFT YOU UP. Amen. ( JAMES 4:10 )

AND THE LORD, HE IS THE ONE WHO GOES BEFORE
YOU. HE WILL BE WITH YOU, HE WILL NOT LEAVE YOU
NOR FORSAKE YOU; DO NOT FEAR NOR BE DISMAYED.
( DEUTERONOMY 31:8 *NKJV )

There are times when we are fearful of current events
or even the future. Fear is a tool that satan uses to attack
our faith in our Heavenly Father.

It is important for a Child of God to remember that GOD HAS NOT
GIVEN US A SPIRIT OF FEAR, BUT OF POWER, AND OF
LOVE, AND OF A SOUND MIND. ( 2 TIMOTHY 1:7 )
God has also made us this promise, FOR I, THE LORD YOUR GOD,
WILL HOLD YOUR RIGHT HAND, SAYING TO YOU, 'FEAR
NOT, I WILL HELP YOU'. ( ISAIAH 41:13 )

So the next time that fear strikes you remember
to hold fast to your faith! After all you can always CAST YOUR
BURDEN ON THE LORD, AND HE SHALL SUSTAIN YOU;
HE SHALL NEVER PERMIT THE RIGHTEOUS TO BE
MOVED. AMEN. ( PSALM 55:22 )

I WAITED PATIENTLY FOR THE LORD; HE TURNED TO ME
AND HEARD MY CRY.
( PSALM 40:1*NIV )

Those are the words of King David, but they can apply to us
as well. As long as we practice patience in our life, and with
our prayers as well. After all it is written; WHOEVER IS PATIENT
HAS GREAT UNDERSTANDING, BUT ONE WHO IS QUICK-
TEMPERED DISPLAYS FOLLY. ( PROVERBS 14:29 )

Now when it comes to our prayers, remember that; THE LORD IS NOT
SLOW IN KEEPING HIS PROMISE, AS SOME UNDERSTAND
SLOWNESS. ( 2 PETER 3:9 ) So BROTHERS AND SISTERS, AS
AN EXAMPLE OF PATIENCE IN THE FACE OF SUFFERING,
TAKE THE PROPHETS WHO SPOKE IN THE NAME OF THE
LORD. AS YOU KNOW, WE COUNT AS BLESSED THOSE WHO
HAVE PERSEVERED. ( JAMES 5:10-11 )

So always; BE JOYFUL IN HOPE, PATIENT IN AFFLICTION,
FAITHFUL IN PRAYER. ( ROMANS 12:12 )
Because THE PRAYER OF A RIGHTEOUS PERSON IS POWERFUL
AND EFFECTIVE. ( JAMES 5:16 )

Now in closing MAY THE GRACE OF THE LORD JESUS
CHRIST, AND THE LOVE OF GOD, AND THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE
HOLY SPIRIT BE WITH YOU. Amen! ( 2 CORINTHIANS 13:14 )
