Another year, another carnival. 🎡 But this isn't just any carnival.

At Edison Elementary School, a United Way Community School, families came together to celebrate the end of the school year, connect with community resources, and simply enjoy time together.

Events like this remind us that community matters. And that's what Community Schools are all about.

Thank you to all of the community partners who spent the afternoon with Edison families.

What happens when students are given the chance to create, problem solve, and believe in their ideas? You get a room full of young innovators proudly presenting apps they built themselves. 🚀📱

Over the last 12 weeks, students at JoAnna Connell - A Community School used the goIT STEM program to turn real-life problems into creative app ideas. Some focused on breaking language barriers, others created apps to help friends connect, and every project reflected hard work, persistence, and creativity.

But the most powerful part was students learning they could push through challenges they never thought they could overcome.

Thank you to Tata Consultancy Services - North America and Erie Insurance for helping bring opportunities like this to students, and the future of STEM education in United Way Community Schools.

And a special shoutout to STEM teacher Lindsey Millet for guiding students through every challenge, idea, and breakthrough along the way.

We’re proud to recognize Scot Galloway, United Way Community School Director at Perry Elementary, a community school for receiving the Institute for Educational LeadershipCommunity School Coordinator Award. 🎉

This national award goes to an individual that demonstrates the ability to facilitate collaboration, inclusiveness, and distributive leadership across their school.

Scot was nominated by Perry teachers and staff, a true reflection of the impact he’s making every day at Perry.

While we celebrate Scot, this moment also speaks to the work happening across all United Way Community Schools. Our Community School Directors show up every day to build relationships, support students and families, and strengthen their school communities.
