You've heard it before--exercise is good for you. There are studies that conclude that usually, it takes 7 exposures to a message for that message to be truly received so we wanted to share the same message, supported by a different study.
At Visiting Angels, we have had the pleasure of seeing what movement can do--from clients claiming they sleep better to clients who say they actually feel better. But of course--circulation is better and when you exercise, your body works better.
Did you know that at least in California (not sure if this is true for all states) - when a Physical Therapist leaves you exercise instructions, your caregiver can help you continue them? And by the way, those who continue the exercises do show encouraging results. (I cannot say enough about how great physical therapy has been for our clients).
If you do not have PT instructions, your "visiting Angel" can just go for a walk with you, or do simple exercises. Can't walk any more? There are chair exercises that are very helpful. There are many ways you can reintroduce movement to your day--even if you are bed-ridden, actually. And the great thing is--our Angels would gladly help you do them!
If you need someone to get you going, give us a call at Visiting Angels for an exploratory chat! (408 846-2988). And by the way, not only can our Home Care Aide help you introduce movement to your day, he/she can help with personal care, light housekeeping, take you to your appointments, do errands with or without you, and be a great companion to you!
