Don’t mind us! We are just out here disrupting everyone’s early morning commute!

All kidding aside you likely saw us out directing traffic at the intersection of 8th Ave and Ironwood. We responded to a minor vehicle accident, with non life threatening injuries.

During the early morning hours, Marne firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire within our response area. Our first arriving officer found heavy fire conditions on the C side of the structure (rear of the home) and was able to quickly confirm all occupants made it safely out of the home.

Engine 2 from the City of Walker arrived on scene within minutes of our first officer and quickly went to work knocking down a bulk of the fire. Additional units arrived and quickly setup water supply utilizing tanker trucks as the area was not covered by hydrants. Units remained on scene for several hours chasing hot spots and ensuring the fire was completely out.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of a very simple fire safety tip. This structure was heavily damaged by fire, but the bedrooms remained mostly intact. This was mainly due to the bedroom doors being closed. As you can see the hallway and adjacent rooms are heavily damaged by fire while the art/pictures on the other side remained virtually untouched. Closing your bedroom doors while you sleep could mean the difference between life and death during a structure fire!

We would like to thank the following departments for their assistance this morning. We are beyond blessed to have strong mutual aid partners who not only assisted us on scene, but also back filled our stations while we were tied up!
City of Walker Fire Department - Michigan
Allendale Fire Department
Coopersville/Polkton Fire Rescue
Blendon Township Fire Department - MI

Ottawa County Central Dispatch Authority

Happy Memorial Day! 🇺🇸

Today is about honoring those who have selflessly served our country and our communities! We hope everyone has a safe and blessed holiday!

We are proud to celebrate EMS Week, which runs from May 17-23. This is a week to honor and celebrate Paramedics, EMTs and other emergency medical responders!

More than 80% of our call volume involves some level of Emergency Medicine. From routine house calls to motor vehicle accidents and rescues, we see it all.

We are lucky to have over 75% of our members licensed as EMTs. The remaining 25% maintain a MFR license or are actively pursuing their EMT license. More importantly we have a handful of members who also carry a valid Paramedics license.

We would like to thank all of those who selflessly sever their communities and continue to give back week after week!

PSA: This means the traffic lane is closed ‼️

It does not mean you can drive around us in the oncoming lane! Please do not ask us to move or lie to us that “you live just up the road”

When we make the decision to close down traffic lanes, it is for a good reason. Maybe there is debris all over the road and we are trying to clean up. Maybe patient care requires us to work in the road way and requires additional safety measures for us and our patients. Or maybe we had a fatality and police are conducting an investigation and we are trying to shield the public from seeing a deceased person on our scene.

We are very sorry that you have used 8th Ave everyday for the last 35 years to get home…. Unfortunately you will need to explore a new road within our beautiful township today.

Please use this as a reminder to be respectful and patient with us. We will get the road reopened as quickly as it is safe to do so.

Rant over! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

When you find out the probies are up at the station putting in the extra work before exams!

We have six students currently enrolled in the Ottawa County Fire Academy, hosted by the Allendale Fire Department. These six students are just three weeks away from their practical and written exams. Once they pass, (and we know they all will) these six will become fully certified members.

Becoming fully certified is a big step for these members as it allows them to begin performing every and all duties on a fire scene. Members are not allowed to enter a burning structure or perform other fire/rescue related tasks until the training qualifications are met. Prior to certification they are allowed to respond, observe and perform very low risk tasks like bringing equipment and tools to the scene.

It has been a long six months of training for this group but there is light at the end of the tunnel!

We are excited to see what Sgt. Looks can accomplish as our new president!

Jim just so happens to also moonlight as a Career Firefighter for Allendale Fire. His commitment to our area fire departments is next to none and we are excited to see him step into the roll!

Congratulations to Kevin on his retirement! We appreciate all that you have accomplished while serving your community! Enjoy your retirement and the uninterrupted nights of sleep!

We would like to take a moment to wish everyone a very Happy Mother’s Day! If we are being honest, Moms deserve way more than just one day of recognition! 🩷

Today we celebrate the moms within our ranks who between the hustle and bustle of motherhood, still find time to throw on bunker pants and serve their community! Most importantly we are greatful for our Wives and Mothers at home who sacrifice and support us as we train and respond to emergencies at all hours of the day!

We truly could not manage it all without the love and support of the Mothers in our lives!
