Prescribed Burn in Pioneers Park Scheduled for June 2nd

Parks and Recreation staff will conduct a prescribed burn from Noon to 4 PM Tuesday, June 2, on about 20 acres near the Prairie Building at Pioneers Park Nature Center.

Trails north of Pioneers Park Nature Center and the parking loop south of the Cunningham Schoolhouse will be closed from noon to 4 PM Tuesday. Pioneers Park Road and access to the Prairie Building remain open. Community members should avoid the area during the project.

Prescribed burns are a tool to manage large areas of native plants and grasses, reduce wildfire risk, and enhance wildlife habitat. Parks staff monitor weather and air quality conditions to ensure safe burns.

For more information on the project, contact Druery at 402-499-1044. For more information about Parks and Recreation, visit parks.lincoln.ne.gov
