With over 41 million children in the U.S. expected to go trick-or-treating, safety is key to a fun-filled night! Wear bright costumes or reflective gear, carry glow sticks, stick to well-lit streets, and trick-or-treat in groups. Remember to check treats before enjoying them!

EmpowHer’s commitment to our youth scuba divers doesn’t end with certification! We keep investing in opportunities that help them strengthen their skills, advance their certifications, and explore new possibilities in ocean STEAM. With women representing only 36% of certified scuba divers worldwide, our EmpowHer divers are breaking barriers and making waves in a field where women remain underrepresented!

"Sí, se puede.” More than a slogan, these words became a movement.
Remembering Dolores Huerta and the decades she spent fighting for civil rights and equality. Dolores, a testament that even the most daunting challenges can be overcome with courage and conviction. Leaving us with the message that young people hold the power to advocate, lead, and empower their collectives. They are the architects of tomorrow, carrying forward the spirit of “yes, we can.”
Thank you, Dolores Huerta, for showing us what perseverance looks like. Our condolences go out to her family. May she rest in peace.

In an effort to help girls overcome their fear of water and gain necessary life skills, we are currently piloting a new component of our program. Free swim lessons! Our goal is to support EmpowHer Girls in gaining the confidence to engage with the ocean and environmental science. Check out week two of the four-week class. Shout-out to Constant Evolution Fitness & CPT for collaborating with us on this amazing opportunity for our girls!

On September 3, we brought together 90 women in the nonprofit sector for what many participants described as a 'much-needed mental health break from carrying the weight of misogynoir.'

The 2026 Black Women Nonprofit Leaders Forum was a resounding success.

September is Latinx Heritage Month. What better way to celebrate than by spotlighting some outstanding young Latinx leaders whose work sits at the front lines of climate and environmental justice!

Isabella Fallahi brings a strong voice to youth climate organizing. As a former Communications Director for Zero Hour and co‑founder of Polluters Out, she’s challenged fossil fuel influence in global climate spaces. Building on that momentum, Jamie Margolin helped turn youth activism into a worldwide movement. She co-founded Zero Hour, led the international Youth Climate March, authored Youth to Power, and served as a plaintiff in a major climate lawsuit pushing for government accountability. And here in Los Angeles, Nalleli Cobo shows the impact of community‑rooted leadership. Her organizing shut down the toxic AllenCo oil site and helped drive LA’s decision to ban new oil drilling. This earned her the Goldman Environmental Prize and a spot on TIME’s 100 Next list. Isabella, Jaime, and Nalleli have turned their lived experiences into leadership that protects and empowers their communities and beyond.
