South Side is really a special place. Friends and neighbors in the Holla gathered (kind of) on a whim to spend their Sunday night watching Amy's final project for her digital storytelling program, a video production on South Side called "The Living Wall". This community will always show up for one another, no matter how big or small the circumstances. I'm proud to hang out with these talented, supportive folks.

From historic riverfront trails to one of Pittsburgh’s most vibrant business districts, Pittsburgh’s South Side is a must-stop trail town on the Great Allegheny Passage at mile 144.2.
Hop off the trail and explore the energy of East Carson Street, browse local shops, grab a bite to eat, or take in views of the Monongahela River from the iconic Hot Metal Bridge. The South Side blends Pittsburgh’s industrial heritage with a lively mix of dining, entertainment, and outdoor recreation, making it the perfect place to start, end, or extend your GAP adventure.
While you're in town, be sure to check out Adam Solar Rides for e-bike rentals and tours, explore local flavors at The Distillery Complex PGH, connect with the South Side Chamber of Commerce to discover what's happening in the neighborhood, and stay overnight at Traveler's Rest Hotel, one of the most bike-friendly lodging options on the GAP.
Whether you're riding all 150 miles or just out for the day, South Side offers a uniquely Pittsburgh experience right along the trail.
