Yesterday morning, we officially broke ground the Ohio River Tunnel, the first of three major tunnels planned as part of our Clean Water Plan.

At approximately 4.9 miles long, the tunnel will help capture excess wastewater during heavy wet weather events and transport it to our treatment plant, instead of overflowing into our rivers and streams.

Together with the other Clean Water Plan investments, the investment is part of our commitment to reducing sewer overflows by approximately 7 billion gallons annually, protecting water quality and building stronger and reliable wastewater infrastructure for future generations.

We’re proud to make this milestone along Steel City Tunnel Partners, a joint venture between Brayman Construction Corporation and The Lane Construction Corporation and the many partners that will help move this project forward.

This is a significant investment in our region’s future, and we’re committed to showing you the work and progress. 🙌
