Every year, Memorial Day is a reminder of the commitment, courage, and honest contributions of the service members who died protecting our nation. Yesterday, we got to honor these fallen heroes during the South Hills Memorial Day Parade in Brookline. Thank you to the South Hills Memorial Day Parade Committee, Jack Wagner, Rep. Jessica Benham, Mayor Corey O'Connor, and the South Hills community for joining each other on this special day of remembrance.

I'm very excited to announce the launch of District 4 Cleanup Crew - my new District 4 litter cleanup initiative. After talking with neighbors, community leaders, and local government officials, I am moving to tackle some of the longstanding litter, graffiti, and vegetational issues in District 4.

While this isn't my first time dealing with litter and overgrowth, my crew and I are taking a more hands-on approach while also hoping to empower communities and residents to be part of the solution. This involves a two-pronged approach:

1. We're taking suggestions for spots in District 4 to consider for cleanup. If you have a place in mind, please email the address, crossroads, and photos of the site to [email protected] or call our office at 412-255-2131.

2. We will also be incorporating an adopt-a-block program as part of this initiative. If you are passionate about keeping your street clean and prepared to be a block leader, fill out this form and we will provide the tools you will need to make a difference: https://forms.gle/GsZ8NLM4BpG2mvCk7

Thank you to those supporting us in the Department of Environmental Services and Department of Public Works for helping us get this initiative off the ground!

Do you have a vision for housing in Pittsburgh? Do you have experiences with transportation in the city you would like to share? The city wants to hear from YOU! Here are two surveys from the Department of Mobility and Infrastructure and the Urban Redevelopment Authority, both intended to utilize perspectives from city residents and commuters to shape future policies.

1. State of Mobility and Safety Perception Survey:
Information gathered about city resident and worker experiences with various modes of transportation will help direct future transportation policies and priorities. You can also enter into a raffle for a gift card and a free POGOH ride upon completion. Survey: https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/ffd81e38341d4f4ca9078f9dfccb8544

2. Affordable Housing Survey:
This opportunity allows residents to provide feedback on the state of housing and housing needs in Pittsburgh. By completing this survey, respondents help the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh decide how to best allocate the $10,000,000 Housing Opportunity Fund to meet resident needs.
