It may have been a long time coming, but demolition has begun at Berg Pl!

Before long we’ll have lovely senior apartments here and these dilapidated buildings will be gone.

I’m very grateful for everyone who helped make this a reality, but most especially my partners in Harrisburg Rep. Benham and Senator Costa who have been tireless in their advocacy.

I can’t wait to cut the ribbon with Mayor O’Connor in a couple of years.

I want to extend a huge congratulations to Casa San José on the grand opening of their Latino Resource & Welcome Center in Beechview. This inspirational project took a longstanding vacant building and turned it into a vital community hub for the region's Latino community. It has been incredible seeing this organization grow under the leadership of Sister Janice Vanderneck and Monica Ruiz. Beechview is lucky to have them.

As a city that relies on electric infrastructure, Pittsburgh depends on the many workers who keep our city functioning. That is why my fellow councilmembers and I stand with IBEW Local 29 and the Allegheny-Fayette County Labor Council in advocating for proper staffing and working conditions. Effective bargaining and good-faith negotiations are critical pillars in our unions, and I urge Duquesne Light to return to the table and engage in real discussions with the skilled electrical workers of our region.
