Today we cut the ribbon on the new and improved Wadsworth bridge as part of the Truckee Meadows Flood Project. It was an honor to partner with the Pyramid Paiute Tribe on this flood management and beautification project! Thanks to Vice Chairman Ely for helping me show off the good work.

A lot of you have asked who I’m voting for — or who I wish I could vote for — so I’ve put together this guide to races across Nevada. I support the Democrats up and down the ballot, up and down the state, and I’m also highlighting some newcomer candidates I know have met out on the trail who I’m especially excited about. There are a LOT of races I’m not covering — be sure to check your local Dems’ website for their complete endorsement lists.

An important disclaimer: these candidates and positions are my own personal endorsements, not in the capacity of my role as Washoe County Commissioner.

Get your ballots in or vote in person as early as you can — starting Oct. 17 and we recommend no later than Oct. 30.

Busy couple of weeks in Washoe County! Here’s some of what I’ve been up to…

Asian Autumn Festival! It was an honor to deliver a proclamation to Vida Lin, the founder of the Asian Community Development Council (ACDC) at their annual Asian Autumn Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival, a centuries-old tradition celebrating the harvest, full moon, and family unity.

We broke ground for the Oddie Project, a collaborative project between the Children’s Cabinet and the Food Bank. This project will have childcare, a community food pantry and commercial kitchen and workforce and job training. I am very proud that Washoe County is a financial as well as a community partner with this project — possible because our board prioritized supporting our working families and keeping families together.

Hanging out with the dedicated and ethical public servants at the Nevada Association of County Officials — they inspire me because they all serve their counties with passion and non partisan values. It was especially cool to meet the NACo national 2nd Vice President Sarah Benatar!

Celebrating new green bike lanes under the arch! This investment in downtown Reno has been YEARS in the making (congratulations Mayor Schieve and Reno City Council). You don’t need a car to get from midtown, to downtown, to UNR. This is one piece of the larger Biggest Little Bike Network so look for the next one coming to a neighborhood near you. 💚

My mother, Susan Goering Hill — a brilliant, classically fashionable feminist from Sweeney, Texas, and citizen of the world — passed away on September 26, 2026.

She was an inspiration and role model to me in so many ways. From a young age, I saw how she championed women’s equality and broke barriers in Northern Nevada as a female executive from the 1980s, advocated for the passage of the ERA in Nevada, served on the board of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, and supported countless nonprofits that uplifted women.

She was also the family’s unofficial English teacher, correcting homework assignments, punching up speeches, and passing down her love of Jane Austen to her daughters.

After her retirement, Susan traveled the world with our family and lived a rich life despite her Parkinson’s diagnosis. I am grateful for her lifelong love and support and will continue working to live up to her wonderful example.

I’m such a big fan of our Nevada libraries. Yesterday I had an afternoon meeting at the Northwest Washoe County Library and then took my girls down to the South Valleys branch for some fantastic magic by the Spellbinders Festival with Lorenzo Clark. Zora was unimpressed with the banned book wall but very excited to announce Sophia Valdez, Future Prez by Andrea Beaty is her favorite book!
