The Natomas Unified School District is taking another major step toward reducing its carbon footprint. Thanks to a $453,000 grant from the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District, NUSD has retired two older diesel buses and replaced them with a new electric bus, which has been in service since February.

Applications are now open for NUSD’s Diverse Future Teachers Program, which helps aspiring educators obtain their credentials.
Requirements: Attend one of the following Zoom meetings AND apply by 4:30 p.m. July 3, 2026:
Thursday, June 4 at 4pm
Thursday, June 11 at 9am
Tuesday, June 16 at 4pm
Thursday, June 25 at 9am
The Diverse Future Teachers Program supports aspiring educators by:
Covering 80% of the cost of a one-year teacher credential program
Providing an NUSD MacBook for use during the program
Offering a $1,000 monthly allowance for 12 months for those who live within NUSD boundaries during their credential program
Additional monetary incentives are available for eligible candidates:
Diversity Incentive: A $5,000 incentive for candidates who reflect our community’s demographics, are bilingual, have an academic interest in equity-related subjects, or have participated in organizations supporting underserved students.
Hard-to-Fill Subject Incentive: A $5,000 incentive for earning credentials in high-need areas such as math, science, moderate-to-severe special education or world language.
