At Northside AEL, we go beyond the test to help our students plan for success after the GED.

Last week, nine of our GED students visited Northwest Vista College to learn more about their degree programs and student life.

All of our students receive access to free college and career counseling from our team of career navigators.

On Friday, April 17th, twelve students completed our first 12-week course for Internationally-Trained Professionals, “Navigating Professional Success in the United States”, with our inaugural Global Connections networking event.

The goal of this educational networking event was to open dialogue between internationally-trained professionals and area business leaders for the mutual benefit, understanding, and advancement of the entire San Antonio community.

These conversations helped our ITPs learn to navigate professional communities in San Antonio and introduced our business leaders to the tremendous talent pool of ITPs.

We would like to thank all of our participants and the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce for making this event possible.

You may recognize this shining star who not only serves as TALAE South Central Rep, but has also been a keynote student speaker at the national COABE conference. Milena Garcia has served in every role in AEL starting as an ESL student and now is a program director. Her passion for AEL shines through in every conversation, and this year she supported the conference registration table and door prizes. Thank you for your service Milena!
