Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) is the Navy acquisition command that develops, delivers and sustains advanced information warfare capabilities for our warfighters. NAVWAR, along with its Naval Information Warfare Centers (NIWC), space field activity and its partnership with three program executive offices, provides the hardware and software needed to execute Navy missions. With nearly 10,000 active duty military and civilian professionals located around the world and close to the fleet, NAVWAR is at the forefront of research, engineering and acquisition, keeping our forces connected around the globe.

, in collaboration with OUSD R&E, has launched three new Prize Challenges targeting key warfighting and training technologies! ⚡️ Phase 1 deadline is Oct. 30.

The Challenges:

1️⃣ Low-Cost EMS Sensing Grid: Pervasive commercial sensing grids for real-time electromagnetic spectrum monitoring.

2️⃣ Commercial Wearables & Smart Devices: COTS devices for low-cost force-on-force training instrumentation.

3️⃣ Distributed LVC Tactical Communications Bridge: Smart RoIP capabilities converting RF to IP and simulating EW degradation for LVC training.

💰 Prize Breakdown:

• Phase 1 Top 5: $10,000 each + advance to Phase 2

• 1st Place: $50,000
• 2nd Place: $30,000
• 3rd Place: $20,000

🗓️ Important Dates:

• Oct 5 (12 PM EST): Deadline to register for Technical Collaboration Exchange

• Oct 7 (1–2 PM EST): Technical Collaboration Exchange (TCE)

• Oct 30: Phase 1 Submissions Due

• Dec 7–11: Phase 2 In-person Demos at Camp Shelby, MS

Don't spook your IT team! Halloween may be coming up soon, but that's no excuse to have scary bad cyber defenses.

The U.S. Fleet Cyber Command, Navy Space Command and U.S. 10th Fleet created these cybersecurity-themed horror movie posters, putting a cyber spin on classic series like Scream, IT and A Nightmare on Elm Street.

And with that, National Cybersecurity Awareness Month has come to an end! Remember to continue these good habits beyond October and all year-round.

Earlier this month, Rear Adm. Rothenhaus was one of the honored guests and speakers at Fleet Week 2026 in San Francisco. Alongside other leaders, he provided his input on various maritime concerns at the Senior Leaders Seminar.

Now in its 45th year, San Francisco Fleet Week is a time-honored celebration that connects the community with the nation's maritime forces, including the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.

At NAVWAR, our Command Information Office (CIO) team is dedicated to providing cyber capability to our command and beyond. Through process improvements utilizing Microsoft tools to bolstering network connectivity to championing AI training, they enable us to support the Fleet's mission.

The Cyber Center of Excellence has named NAVWAR as one of the leading cyber organizations within the San Diego region. Through our partnership with CCOE, we support a cyber job training pipeline to ensure new and upcoming talent are properly equipped with technical skills.

On Oct. 13, 1775, the Continental Navy was established as two armed vessels to patrol for mu*****ns ships supplying the British Army during the Revolutionary War. Now, 251 years later, the U.S. Navy has expanded to nearly half a million personnel and hundreds of ships across the globe.

For 251 years, the U.S. Navy has stood a ceaseless and proud watch. At NAVWAR, we are proud to support the Fleet and provide our Sailors with the critical tools they need to safeguard our nation's interests.
