This year’s theme for the 56th Annual Pride Parade and Celebration is “Resistance in Action,” and features two days of celebration in Civic Center, Saturday, June 27, 11am-6pm, and Sunday, June 28, 11am-6pm; capping off a month of Pride festivities across the City.

Celebrate 20 years of hip hop culture at the All the Way Live Hip Hop Dance Festival at Fulton Plaza (Fulton Street between Hyde and Larkin streets) on Saturday, May 30 from noon to 6 p.m. The free, family-friendly event features youth dance showcases, Bay Area popping and breaking communities, live DJs and “The People’s Market,” an open-air marketplace highlighting BIPOC artists, makers, chefs and community organizations. Calling all youth chess players! A high fun, chess tournament in UN Plaza on May 31, 10am-3pm. The USCF-rated, and non-rated, chess tournament is open for all youth through 12th grade.
Also try your hand at a game against Grandmaster Sam Shankland during the simultaneous exhibition (where a chess player plays multiple other players at one time).
