An unforgettable evening to celebrate 80 years of the Italian Republic 🇮🇹

More than 700 guests gathered at the Consulate General of Italy in San Francisco for this year’s Festa della Repubblica, bringing together public officials, business and technology leaders, members of the Italian and Italian-American communities, and friends of Italy from across Northern California and the Consulate’s jurisdiction.

We were particularly honored to welcome San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie and California Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis, whose presence reflected the strength of the ties that continue to unite Italy and California.

The evening blended culture, community, and innovation. Maria Fassio Pignati performed the Italian and U.S. national anthems, The Mina Project paid tribute to one of Italy’s most iconic musical voices, and MC Samantha Ferro of CRAVE RADIO guided the celebration with elegance and energy.

Guests also enjoyed an exceptional showcase of Italian food and wines generously offered by restaurants, producers, importers, and hospitality partners from throughout the Bay Area—an expression of the vitality of Northern California’s Italian community and its commitment to promoting the excellence of Made in Italy.

Above all, the celebration was a reflection of contemporary Italy itself: rooted in history, driven by creativity, powered by innovation, and open to the world.

A special thank you to our sponsors and partners, including Main Sponsors Fedele Bauccio, Intesa Sanpaolo, Italgas, Fincantieri and Supporting Sponsors Alaska Airlines, ITA Airways, UMBRAGROUP, Terna, Gruppo FS, Translated, and Lamborghini, whose generous support helped make the evening possible.

The Consulate General of Italy in San Francisco was honored to participate in the traditional Italian National Day flag-raising ceremony at San Francisco City Hall, held in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic.

The event brought together representatives of local institutions, members of the Italian and Italian-American communities, and friends of Italy to celebrate the values of democracy, freedom, and civic participation that have guided the Republic since its foundation.

We were particularly honored by the participation of Chief of Protocol Penny Coulter and Assemblymember Catherine Stefani, who joined Consul General Massimo Carnelos in addressing attendees during the ceremony.

A sincere thank you to the City and County of San Francisco, the Office of Protocol, community organizations, and all those who joined us in celebrating Italy’s National Day and the enduring friendship between Italy, San Francisco, and the United States.

Consul General Massimo Carnelos greatly enjoyed his first visit to NVIDIA’s Headquarters in Santa Clara, a global leader whose innovations are helping shape the future of artificial intelligence, advanced computing, and digital transformation.

The meeting offered a valuable opportunity to discuss emerging technological trends and explore potential areas of collaboration with Italy’s research, innovation, and industrial ecosystems.

Many thanks to John Wesley, Rambod “Rambo” Jacoby, and the NVIDIA team for their warm welcome and for sharing their vision of the technologies that are driving the next wave of global innovation.

Strengthening connections between Italy and the world's leading technology companies remains a key pillar of Italy’s innovation diplomacy efforts in Silicon Valley.

An inspiring evening at the Istituto Italiano Cultura SF with the screening of , the documentary dedicated to the work of Nicolò Govoni and Still I Rise.

Through powerful stories from some of the world’s most challenging regions, the film reminds us that education is far more than a path to knowledge—it can be a source of hope, dignity, and opportunity for children facing extraordinary circumstances.

A heartfelt thank you to Nicolò Govoni for sharing his remarkable journey and vision, and to Andrea Carcano and Mara Gavazzi for making this special event possible.

An evening that highlighted the transformative power of education and the profound impact that individual commitment can have on the lives of others.
