🗳️ On May 13, KACS hosted a Korean-language Voting & Election Information Seminar at Bascom Community Center in San Jose in partnership with the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters.

During the seminar, participants received helpful information about:

✔️ Requesting Korean-language ballots
✔️ Vote-by-mail & early voting
✔️ Language assistance services
✔️ Same Day Registration

Jennifer Kim, Korean Language Lead from the Registrar of Voters Office, emphasized that active civic participation is essential to ensuring Korean American voices are represented in local policies and community decisions.

Attendees showed strong interest in Korean-language voting services and actively participated in discussions about voting access, language assistance, and the importance of civic engagement within the Korean American community.

이번 세미나에서는

선거 참여에 꼭 필요한 정보들이 한국어로 제공되었습니다.

제니퍼 김 선거관리국 한국어 팀장은 “한인 커뮤니티의 적극적인 투표 참여가 지역사회와 정책에 우리의 목소리를 반영하는 중요한 힘이 된다”고 강조했습니다.

이날 참석자들은 한국어 투표 서비스와 자료에 높은 관심을 보이며, 투표 접근성, 언어 지원 서비스, 시민 참여의 중요성 등에 대해 적극적으로 질문하고 의견을 나누는 시간을 가졌습니다.

케이센터는 앞으로도 한인 커뮤니티가 보다 쉽게 선거와 시민 참여에 접근할 수 있도록 지속적으로 한국어 정보와 지원 서비스를 제공하겠습니다. 💙

💐 A Special Mother’s Day Outreach for Our Seniors🌸

💚 KACS regularly conducts outreach twice a month over two days, personally visiting 105 seniors living alone in senior apartments to deliver meals and check on their well-being.

For this Mother’s Day outreach 🌸, flowers handmade by students were delivered along with the meals. Many seniors shared their appreciation and joy at receiving an unexpected gift.

Beyond meal delivery, KACS continues to support the well-being of seniors and strengthen connections within the community through ongoing outreach efforts 💚

💐 시니어분들을 위한 특별한 어버이날 아웃리치 🌸

💚KACS는 정기적으로 한 달에 두 번, 이틀에 걸쳐 시니어 아파트에 거주하시는 105명의 독거 시니어분들을 직접 찾아가 식사를 전달하고 안부를 확인하는 아웃리치를 진행하고 있습니다.

이번 어버이날 아웃리치에는 ksnc_jrleaders 학생들이 직접 만든 🌸꽃을 🍱음식과 함께 전달해드렸습니다. 예상하지 못한 작은 선물에 많은 시니어분들이 반가움과 감사의 마음을 전해주셨습니다. 💚

KACS는 단순한 식사 전달을 넘어, 시니어분들의 안부와 웰빙을 지속적으로 살피며 지역사회와의 연결을 이어가고 있습니다.

Empowering Seniors Through Knowledge & Community

On April 23, KACS successfully hosted a Senior Empowerment Seminar, welcoming over 80 Korean immigrant seniors for a meaningful day of education, connection, and support. 💙

Experts shared practical information on Medicare, Social Security, Medi-Cal & CalFresh updates, retirement planning, funeral preparation, wills, and living trusts to help seniors better navigate important systems and prepare for a more secure future.

The seminar also gave participants an opportunity to ask questions, receive guidance, and connect with valuable community resources. Thank you to everyone who joined us and to our community partners for making this event possible! 🙌✨

케이센터(KACS)는 지난 4월 23일 한인 이민자 시니어들을 위한 ‘시니어 역량강화 세미나’를 성황리에 개최했습니다 💙

80여 명의 참석자들과 함께 메디케어, 사회보장 혜택, 메디칼 및 칼프레시 변경 사항, 은퇴 및 장례 준비, 유언장과 리빙트러스트 등 안정적인 노후 준비를 위한 실질적인 정보를 나누는 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌습니다.

참석자들은 질의응답 시간을 통해 궁금증을 해소하고 다양한 커뮤니티 자원과 정보를 얻을 수 있었으며, 정보와 언어 장벽 속에서 큰 도움이 되었다는 소감을 전했습니다. 함께해주신 모든 분들과 후원 기관 및 커뮤니티 파트너들께 진심으로 감사드립니다 🙌✨

The festival served as a bridge, sharing the rich traditions of Korean culture with the broader community. Beyond the festivities, our Resource Fair provided a vital link to essential community services and information.

While attendees enjoyed traditional Korean cuisine together, our heart remained with those who couldn’t be there. KACS staff personally delivered meals to seniors with mobility challenges, ensuring that the spirit of the Full Moon reached every home.

This milestone was only possible through the unwavering support of our community leaders, partners, volunteers, and the dedicated KACS staff. To us, you are the true heroes of this community.

🇰🇷🇺🇸🌕 3월 6일, 베스컴 커뮤니티 센터 체육관은 환한 보름달만큼이나 따뜻한 정으로 가득 찼습니다. 약 300여 명의 이웃이 모인 가운데, 케이센터 정월대보름 축제가 성황리에 마무리되었습니다.

이번 축제는 지역사회 주요 인사들의 축사와 우리 시니어분들의 열정 가득한 공연이 어우러져 더욱 뜻깊은 시간이었습니다. 무엇보다 한국의 아름다운 전통과 문화를 지역사회와 함께 나눌 수 있어 무척 소중한 기회였습니다. 함께 운영된 리소스 페어(Resource Fair)를 통해서는 실생활에 꼭 필요한 서비스 정보들을 연결해 드리며 지역사회의 든든한 버팀목이 되고자 노력했습니다.

정성껏 준비한 한국 전통 음식을 함께 나누며, 미국 땅에서도 우리 명절의 의미를 되새기는 기쁨을 만끽했습니다. 특히 거동이 불편해 현장에 오지 못하신 어르신들께는 봉사자들이 직접 댁으로 식사를 배달해 드리며, 소외되는 이 없이 모두가 보름달의 풍요로움을 느낄 수 있도록 온기를 전했습니다.
이 모든 감동의 순간은 지역 리더분들, 협력 기관, 출연진, 그리고 보이지 않는 곳에서 헌신해주신 자원봉사자와 케이센터 스태프 여러분의 아낌없는 지원 덕분에 가능했습니다. 여러분 모두가 진정한 우리들의 영웅입니다.

A historic moment unfolded at the San Jose City Council Chambers. Representing the Korean American community, KACS was honored to deliver a message of hope and resilience before city leaders and community partners.

Executive Director Eunis Chon delivered a powerful invocation, sharing the deep cultural significance of Lunar New Year—a time of family, tradition, and the enduring strength of our immigrant journey. The room was filled with profound emotion as the soul-stirring notes of Amazing Grace and Arirang, performed by Piri player Chang-Hyun Park and Janggu player Sung-Soo Jang, resonated through the chambers. ✨

This was a proud moment that truly reflected the rising stature of our community. As the only nonprofit in Santa Clara County dedicated to providing warm Korean meals and essential social services for our seniors, KACS remains committed to being a bridge for all generations.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the City of San Jose for their inclusive leadership and for designating Lunar New Year as an official holiday. Together, we will continue to build a thriving, inclusive community.

"산호세 시의”심장에서 울려 퍼진 한인의 목소리와 아리랑“ 🇰🇷🇺🇸

지난 2월 24일, 산호세 시의회 정기회의에서 케이센터(KACS) 유니스 전 관장이 설날(Lunar New Year)을 기념하는 공식 ‘인보케이션(개회 연설)’을 진행했습니다. 이번 자리는 산호세 시의 설 공식 공휴일 지정을 축하하고, 시 정부와 한인 커뮤니티 간의 파트너십을 더욱 공고히 하기 위해 마련되었습니다.

특히 지역 내 수많은 아시안 커뮤니티 중 한인 사회를 대표해 케이센터가 공식 초청받은 것은 우리 커뮤니티의 높아진 위상을 입증하는 의미 있는 자리였습니다. 전 관장은 설날의 전통적 의미와 함께, 낯선 땅에서 삶을 일궈낸 한인들의 강인한 회복력(Resilience)을 강조해 시의원들과 참석자들의 깊은 공감을 이끌어냈습니다.

또한, 설날을 공식 휴일로 지정한 시의 포용적 결정에 감사를 표하며, 앞으로도 시 정부와 긴밀히 협력해 모두가 번영하는 지역 사회를 만드는 데 앞장설 것을 약속했습니다. 연설 후에는 박창현 피리 연주자와 장성수 장구 연주자가 ‘아리랑’ 메들리를 선보였으며, 전통 악기의 아름다운 선율은 현장에 모인 리더들에게 깊은 감동을 선사하며 축하의 자리를 더욱 빛냈습니다.

As 2025 comes to a close, we’re looking back with gratitude on a year marked not only by progress, but by the strength we’ve built together as a community.

From moments that connected seniors, youth, and families across generations, to major breakthroughs in funding support and new opportunities to uplift emerging community leaders, our work was fueled by one shared purpose: making sure our community has what it needs to thrive—today and for the future.
