We recently had the pleasure of welcoming a group of young adults from St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church to Heartland Industries!

During their visit, the students learned more about how sheltered workshops create meaningful employment opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities while getting a firsthand look at Heartland’s day-to-day operations. They spent time exploring different workstations, helping serve snacks during break time and connecting with Heartland employees over lunch.

Most importantly, the visit provided an opportunity for everyone to share stories, learn from one another and build new connections. We’re grateful to Director of Youth Ministry Conner Havrilla and the students for taking the time to learn more about our mission and our employees.

Heartland Industries Receives Funding from the St. Louis Office for Developmental Disability Resources!

At its May board meeting, the St. Louis Office for Developmental Disability Resources (DD Resources) approved a $61,368 investment in Heartland Industries’ employment program.

In FY27, DD Resources approved $7,654,593 in total community investments supporting almost 1,600 individuals and families across St. Louis City. These publicly funded services helped residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) live more independently in an inclusive community that maximizes individual abilities.

Recently, Dr. John Bruno conducted two training sessions with our staff. As a nationally recognized expert in the field of neurodiversity, he shared valuable insights and strategies to help our team provide the highest level of support to our employees with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

On May 1st, two beloved Heartland staff members retired. Chris and Don Consiglio retired together after long, successful careers serving our employees. Chris had 16 years of service and Don had 12 years.

Laughter and tears of joy were shared throughout the day as they were celebrated. The daylong event was filled with fun, great food, storytelling and memories spanning multiple decades.

Chris and Don, you will be greatly missed. Thank you for your years of service and commitment to the mission of Heartland Industries. Enjoy your well-earned retirement!

Three old, outdated and broken-down rooftop HVAC units were replaced at Heartland in early April.

These new units will help employees and staff stay comfortable year-round as they go about their days providing world-class packaging and assembly services to our valued customers.
