Participating in the “No Kings” demonstration was deeply personal for me. As someone who has dedicated my life to service and advocacy, I understand that moments like this are not just symbolic—they are necessary. They remind us that our voices matter, and that we each have a responsibility to stand up for justice, equity, and truth.
I urge everyone to take this energy and turn it into impact: register to vote, stay informed, and show up for the midterm and general elections. That is how we create lasting change.
We’ve come too far to be silent now. The time is now—and we must meet this moment together.

Juneteenth isn’t just a celebration—it’s a reminder.
On June 19, 1865, Black people in Galveston, Texas were told they were free—two and a half years after they legally were. That delay wasn’t an accident. It was intentional, and it’s at the heart of what Juneteenth really means.
This day marks the moment truth finally caught up to injustice. But it also reminds us that freedom in law does not equal freedom in reality.
Slavery didn’t end. It transformed. The 13th Amendment left a loophole—"except as punishment for a crime"—which laid the foundation for mass incarceration, prison labor, and the systemic oppression we still see today.
Today we celebrate. We honor our ancestors' survival, Black joy, resistance, and brilliance. But we also tell the truth.
Because Juneteenth is not the end of the story—it’s a checkpoint.
A call to keep going.
Until our communities are safe, resourced, and free—freedom is still being fought for.
