The conference also highlighted new opportunities for small and mid-size businesses to team and subcontract with prime contractors.

Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Washington Contracting Division Director Holly Snow returned from the 2025 Navy/Marine Corps Procurement Conference in Norfolk, Va., with transformative insights that position the command at the forefront of Navy modernization efforts.

The two-day conference, held July 29-30, provided Snow direct access to Pentagon decision-makers and defense industry leaders, revealing priority areas that align with NAVFAC Washington’s capabilities. Recently, Fincantieri Marinette Marine President, Vice Admiral (Ret.) Rick Hunt, participated in the panel discussion titled “The SHIPS Act and the American Shipbuilding Industrial Base: Partnering for Success” at the 2025 Navy and Marine Corps Procurement Conference in Norfolk, Virginia.

This annual event brings together military and industry leaders to align on procurement priorities and strengthen collaboration across the shipbuilding and defense sectors.

During his portion of the panel, Admiral Hunt drove home an important message about the revival of American Shipbuilding, saying, “This is a time of great opportunity for a rebirth of our Maritime Industry due to the tremendous support from the Administration and the Hill. But it is a time where we all must aggressively take the lead and drive action to advocate and advance our ideas, new capabilities, and capacity to execute and ultimately achieve the production goals laid out in the SHIPS Act. This will take all of us to communicate our vision in force to the Administration, the Hill, to State and Local governments, and to the American public. Let’s come together and work to Make Shipbuilding Great Again.”
