Their work is often unseen, but never unfelt. Every call answered is a life touched, a situation stabilized, and a community made safer.

Speed matters. Drive and ride as if your life depends on it.

Recently, officers from CHP West Valley responded to a solo motorcycle crash on Stunt Rd, north of Schueren Rd in the Santa Monica Mountains. The rider was traveling at an excessive speed while trying to negotiate a curve in the roadway and the rider ultimately went down, striking a guardrail.

The rider suffered major injuries and needed to be airlifted to the hospital.

Canyon roads are unforgiving. Sharp turns, elevation changes, and limited protective barriers leave little room for error. Speed and aggressive riding dramatically increase the risk of serious injury or worse.

We seek to prevent crashes just like this and through the Traffic Alliance Safety Corridors Campaign, CHP is collaborating with the California Office of Traffic Safety to reduce roadway deaths and injuries through public awareness, education, and increased enforcement.

Funding for this campaign was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

🚨Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Arrests🚨

Excessive speed. Criminal indicators in plain view.

Recently, our West Valley officers stopped a vehicle traveling over 100 mph on SR-118 eastbound, west of I-405. During the stop, officers observed a large bag of suspected ma*****na and suspected nitrous canisters in plain view.

Upon further investigation, officers discovered a loaded firearm, additional controlled substances with evidence of intent to sell, and cash.

🔹 Driver arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell - Felony
🔹 Passenger arrested for possession of a controlled substance while armed - Felony

Enforcement like this keeps our roadways and our communities safer, even while most are asleep.
