Crime concerns in downtown Worcester 05/30/2026

Boston 25 News recently spoke with Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Tim Murray and Worcester City Manager Eric Batista regarding growing public safety concerns in downtown Worcester following recent incidents on Worcester Common.

The conversation focused on the importance of maintaining a safe, welcoming downtown environment as Worcester continues to see investment, growth, housing development, and increased activity throughout the downtown and Canal District areas.

Tim emphasized the importance of proactive collaboration between city leadership, law enforcement, businesses, and community organizations to address ongoing concerns while supporting the long-term success of Worcester’s downtown economy.

“Perception matters.”
