Our summer campers recently welcomed a very important guest to the library: Digger the Dog, the Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania safety mascot.
Digger taught students what to do if they ever smell natural gas in their homes and shared important safety tips in a fun, engaging way that campers won't soon forget.
Learning how to stay safe is an important life skill, and we are grateful to Digger and the Columbia Gas team for helping our students understand what to do in an emergency. The campers had a wonderful time and learned some valuable lessons along the way!
Thank you Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania for helping keep our students informed, prepared, and safe.

While students are enjoying their summer break, our Head of the Lower School, Mr. Goodwin, has been hard at work giving back to the York Academy community. Wanting to make the entrance area more welcoming and visually appealing for students and staff, he recently installed a new retaining wall near the Lower School's morning drop-off entrance.
It's a wonderful example of the care, pride, and dedication that goes into making York Academy feel like home. We are grateful for leaders who go above and beyond to improve our campus and create a positive environment for our students.
Thank you for helping make our Lower School even more beautiful and welcoming! 👏💙

York Academy's S Camp (Sports, Science & Snacks) continues to keep campers busy with an exciting summer of space-themed learning and fun!
So far, students have enjoyed an in-school planetarium experience provided by a generous grandparent, explored gravity through hands-on science experiments, launched rockets in the park, and created tasty snacks inspired by the phases of the moon. 🌙✨
Campers have also completed astronaut training in the gym and experimented with robotics and coding to learn how Moon and Mars rovers can be controlled from a distance. Each morning begins with a space-themed science presentation that helps bring the wonders of the universe to life.
From STEM learning to hands-on exploration, our campers are having a blast while reaching for the stars! 🌟

Our recent graduates returned from an unforgettable journey to Costa Rica, a travel experience they selected during their junior year and worked toward through months of fundraising, with additional support from the York Academy Foundation and their families.
From exploring Costa Rica's incredible biodiversity to experiencing a new culture firsthand, students had the opportunity to bring their IB learning to life beyond the classroom. These experiences help students develop a broader perspective of the world and a deeper understanding of what it means to be a global citizen.
We are incredibly proud of our graduates for their hard work, dedication, and sense of adventure, and grateful to everyone who helped make this transformative experience possible.

Our York Academy Summer Camp students are enjoying an exciting lineup of educational visitors as part of the York Library Summer School Programs! Throughout the summer, campers will learn from organizations such as the York County History Center, York County Waste Management Authority, and WellSpan Health.
Today, campers received a special visit from K-PETS Therapy Animals and met Willow, a sweet and gentle Golden Retriever who loves belly rubs. 🐶💙 Needless to say, Willow quickly became a favorite, and the students loved spending time with her!
The learning and fun continue next week when campers welcome WellSpan Health to discuss child safety and injury prevention, along with a visit from Digger the Dog from Columbia Gas Company.
What a great way to combine summer learning, community partnerships, and unforgettable experiences!

Meanwhile, another group of young engineers puts their creativity to work by building spaceship hangars out of Magnetiles, designing structures to house and launch their imaginary spacecraft. 🚀
From sports and snacks to exciting STEM activities, S Camp is proving that summer learning can be both educational and fun!
