There is a Mid-Atlantic ADA Center Webinar for Turning Points: The Disability Rights Movement on July 16th from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. EST.
This year we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, and the 36th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act. When President George H. W. Bush signed the ADA into law, he said we celebrated “another ‘independence day,’ … long overdue” for people with disabilities.
This session will focus on some of the pivotal events of the disability rights movement, recognize some of the pioneers who led the way, and acknowledge the power of community that keeps us moving forward on the journey from isolation to inclusion of people with disabilities.

Did you know? PEAL participates in the DeafBlind Circle of Expertise with Parent Training and Information Centers across the country to better support students with deafblindness and their families. PEAL also has representation on the Pennsylvania DeafBlind Advisory Committee and a parent of a child with deafblindness on staff, bringing lived experience to our work.
