JUST IN: Schools may suspend classes independently, resume even amid LGU suspension under new Marcos EO

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has issued Executive Order No. 130, establishing new rules governing the suspension and resumption of classes and onsite work in public and private educational institutions.

Under the new policy, schools may independently suspend in-person classes based on documented, site-specific threats to the safety of students and personnel, provided there is no existing automatic or LGU-ordered suspension.

Schools may also seek to resume face-to-face classes even while a localized suspension remains in effect, but this requires a safety assessment and the concurrence of the concerned local chief executive.

EO 130 also amends EO 66, s. 2012, which previously governed class suspensions and work in government offices during calamities and weather disturbances. | via Dexter Cabalza, Philippine Daily Inquirer

UNDAS 2026 UPDATE | OLONGAPO CITY
