๐Ÿšœ๐ŸŒฑ Who's caring for Queensland's landscapes? Farmers are.

While drought conditions loom and producers face rising fuel, fertiliser and feed costs, Qld farmers continue to do what they've always done โ€” actively manage the land to deliver both agricultural production and environmental outcomes ๐ŸŒพ ๐Ÿฎ ๐ŸŒฑ

That's why AgForce members are calling for the Federal Government's EPBC Act reforms to recognise the vital environmental services already being delivered on farms across the state, alongside the existing state-based regulations producers work within.

Take Cameron and Jacqui Tickell near Charleville. Across almost 75,000 hectares of southwest Qld, they're balancing livestock production with the careful management of mulga country โ€” proving that productive agriculture and environmental responsibility go hand in hand.

๐Ÿšœ More than a farmer

AgForce has launched the More than a farmer campaign to showcase the vital work Qld producers do beyond growing our food and fibre.

The campaign comes as changes to the EPBC Act introduce new federal oversight of routine farm management activities, creating uncertainty for producers across the state.

Over the coming weeks you will hear directly from Qld producers, to show how modern, innovative and regenerative farming practices are striking the right balance between feeding the nation and caring for the environment.

Producers need certainty on the EPBC Act ๐Ÿ“ฃ

In this week's column, AgForce General President Shane McCarthy, says producers need legal certainty so they can continue their critical work producing food and fibre.

"These reforms are creating legal ambiguity around routine farming operations, property rights, land management and future investment. They donโ€™t take into account the damage to the food security of our nation, regional economies and domestic production capacity."

Using the right fuel tax credit rates during the fuel excise reduction โ›ฝ๏ธ

If your business claims fuel tax credits on its business activity statement, itโ€™s important to understand how the temporary fuel excise reduction affects your fuel tax credits.

From 1 April to 30 June 2026, the government has reduced excise and exciseโ€‘equivalent customs duty rates on petrol and diesel by a total of 60.9%. The rates were initially reduced by 50%, followed by a further 10.9% reduction.
