City Renewal Canberra The ACT Government’s City Renewal Authority is charged with shaping a City Centre that is vibrant, inclusive, and economically dynamic.

Creating a place where people want to live, work, visit and invest. The ACT Government's City Renewal Authority, in partnership with the community, is creating an exciting city heart through the delivery of design-led urban renewal with a focus on social and environmental sustainability. The City Renewal Authority is established under the City Renewal Authority and Suburban Land Agency Act 2017, which came into effect on 1 July 2017. The City Renewal Authority Board includes professionals with expertise in urban design, architecture, town planning, sustainable development, affordable housing and community engagement. The City Centre Marketing and Improvements Levy is applied to ACT commercial properties in the city area and some selected areas of Braddon. The levy is used to fund events, promote activities, capital improvements and provide cleaning and security services to the City and Braddon Districts. The management of the City Centre Marketing and Improvements Levy transferred to the City Renewal Authority from 1 January 2018. We will work with levy payers and stakeholders on developing services and programs to increase activity and vibrancy within the levy area. Visit www.revenue.act.gov.au for more information on the City Centre Marketing and Improvements Levy, including rates payable and how to lodge returns. The City Renewal Authority’s social media accounts are monitored from Monday to Friday, between 9am – 5pm. HOUSE RULES:

Designed in partnership with the Ngunnawal community, Ngamawari will celebrate Country through cultural storytelling, landscape design and connections to place.

Installation of more than 700 tonnes of boulders continues, with some heading to Queanbeyan in the coming weeks for engraving as part of public artwork that will share stories and connection to Country.

A defining feature of the new lakeside park, the stone archway to the play space is also coming to life. Supporting a boulder weighing almost 50 tonnes, the archway has been designed to welcome visitors to the park from the boardwalk for generations to come.

We can't wait to welcome you to this wonderful new space in 2028. ✨🛝🌲

57 car parking spaces including 8 accessible spaces will reopen in the Theatre Lane car park this Saturday.

Similarly to City Hill, Hobart Place and the Civic Pool car park, these spaces will be free after 5:30pm from Wednesday to Sunday evenings.

London Circuit East will also partially reopen to traffic. As construction for Light Rail to Commonwealth Park progresses, fencing will continue to be removed with refreshed public space returned to the community.

More details in the post below 👇

From this Saturday, 57 parking bays including 8 accessible parking spaces, will reopen in the Theatre Lane car park.

The parking spaces will return for community use following the conclusion of the majority of work on London Circuit East and the removal of the light rail construction compound.

They will be zoned for 2-hour paid parking and free after 530pm from Wednesday to Sunday evenings.

Shortly after the reopening of the car park, London Circuit East is planned to partially reopen to traffic.

This will enable drivers and cyclists to travel along London Circuit East, past the Theatre Lane car park, and turn left onto Northbourne Avenue, for the first time since it closed in early 2025.

Fencing will also continue to be removed as work is finished ahead of major construction completion in the first half of 2027, with public spaces returned to the community.

With the weather now heating up, the city is open for business, so get out and support local shops, cafes and venues. ☕✨
