Multicultural and Multifaith Victoria We support and advocate for culturally and linguistically diverse Victorians.

As the main link between communities and government, the Victorian Multicultural Commission engages with multicultural and multifaith groups to understand the issues they face. We then work together to identify and recommend potential solutions to government, policymakers and community organisations to make public services more inclusive and accessible.

Today, we acknowledge DĂa de los Mu***os (Day of the Dead), a significant cultural celebration that honours the lives and memories of loved ones who have passed away.

Rooted in Mexican tradition, the occasion brings families and communities together to remember those who came before them, celebrate their legacy and keep their stories alive for future generations.

We wish all those observing a meaningful day of remembrance, reflection and connection.

The Victorian Government has launched Ageing well in Victoria action plan 2026–2030: strengthening wellbeing for older people.

There is no single experience of ageing in Victoria. Older people are diverse with different cultures, identities and life experiences.

The action plan focuses on the areas that matter most to older people:
• staying connected to family, friends and communities
• staying independent and ageing well at home
• having access to services and support when needed
• feeling safe, respected and included.
Together, we can continue building a society where everyone can age well.

Multicultural and Multifaith Victoria (MMV) welcomed two international delegations to our Melbourne office, yesterday, in separate visits: representatives from the Region of Calabria, Italy; and the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Anhui Province, China.

MMV introduced both delegations to Victoria’s multicultural context and provided an overview of our work to strengthen community voice, participation, belonging and inclusion. We discussed the enduring contributions of Victoria’s Italian, Calabrian and Chinese communities, their connections across generations, and the ties that link Victoria with Calabria and China, respectively.

Each presentation was followed by questions and a broader exchange of experiences and perspectives.

Visits such as these support our commitment to mutual learning, building relationships and strengthening understanding between communities and institutions.

Thank you to both delegations for a valuable exchange.
