What's news? 📰
Training and vigilance have again featured strongly in the response of Cockburn ARC staff during a recent resuscitation rescue in the gym, following the collapse of a member due to a heart attack.
Neal's story of survival has been shared by 10 News Perth. Our ARC teamies will receive much-deserved bravery awards later this year. 🧡
Our new tree planning policy is helping protect mature trees over 8m tall on private property from the chop. We aim to enhance the local tree canopy which provides valuable shade and wildlife habitat. 🌳
Get a fresh view of winter at the 2nd annual Makuru Arts Festival. A posse of artists featuring work in the month-long event recently gathered atop Manning Park stairs to celebrate the beginning of the popular festival. 🎭

We’re pretty proud of our dedicated Cockburn ARC team. 👏
Several staff members rushed to the aid of local man Neal when he collapsed in the gym recently.
Within seconds, Senior Fitness Coach Nat was on scene, followed closely by Operations staff Aarya, Jenaya, Jenni and Will.
As emergency services rushed to the centre, the team immediately began CPR and following three rounds plus a shock from the defibrillator, Neal started breathing again. 🧡
Paramedics later confirmed Neal had experienced a heart attack and today he is here to tell his story. Tune into 10 News Perth from 5pm.

Calm after the storm 🌈
We're working hard to clear all the debris from roads, pathways and parks across Cockburn after the storm at the weekend.
Unfortunately, we can't assist with clearing trees and branches on private property but you can take one trailer load of free green waste a day to Henderson Waste Recovery Park.
Visit our website to view opening hours and fees for trailer loads in excess of one free pass per day visit: https://bit.ly/Public-Waste-Drop-Off

As National Reconciliation Week comes to a close, children and families were treated to a Nyungar Storytime and cultural dance performance at Cockburn Libraries Success Library over the weekend. 🖤
And Aboriginal educator Cyril Yarran lead a guided walk around Bibra Lake and sharing stories of his family and what it means to him to be on Country in one of the week's final events yesterday.
We're all in when it comes to reconciliation. While National Reconciliation Week may be over for another year, the City's commitment to learning, listening and walking together continues throughout the year.
Thank you to all who joined us. 🫶

A few highlights celebrating the people and organisations helping make Cockburn such a connected, creative and caring community. 💙
Last week we awarded 27 grants across our Community, Cultural, Sponsorship, Donations and Environmental Education for Schools programs.
The funded projects reflect the incredible diversity of our community – from cultural festivals, local history preservation and public art, to environmental education, community services, youth wellbeing, sporting events, innovation programs and support for families doing it tough.
A special highlight of the evening was an incredible performance by Ngaru Pou Inc Public Page.
Congratulations to all recipients, we can't wait to see the positive impact your projects will have across Cockburn.
