More than 2,900 speeding offences were detected during the AFL Grand Final long weekend, and we’re warning drivers not to make the same mistake this Melbourne Cup break.

Operation Furlong kicks off on Friday, with officers out in force across Victoria targeting speeding and other high-risk behaviours.

Last year, almost 3,000 drivers were caught speeding during the operation, with most travelling 10km/h to 25km/h over the limit.

If you’re heading away this weekend, slow down, allow extra travel time and remember: getting there safely is more important than getting there fast.

Detectives have charged a man with produce child abuse material following an incident at an aquatic centre in Keilor Downs on Sunday 25 October.

The 62-year-old man has been charged with one count each of produce child abuse material and produce intimate image.

The Caroline Springs man was arrested after it is alleged, he filmed several people in a change room cubicle at an aquatic centre on Taylors Road around 11.10am.

Illicit Fi****ms Squad detectives have charged a man, seized weapons in Keilor and disrupted alleged illicit fi***rm manufacturing.

Detectives executed a search warrant at a property on Old Calder Highway yesterday.

With assistance from Australian Border Force, they recovered a privately manufactured sh***un, suspected fi***rm components, am******on, prohibited weapons and pyrotechnics.

Police are working side-by-side with Brimbank City Council to tackle anti-social behaviour and ensure our public spaces remain safe and welcoming for everyone.

Local police and Council Authorized Officers are stepping up joint patrols across the Sunshine C*D—including Hampshire Road, the Sunshine Library, and the surrounding civic precincts. A key focus of these patrols is the active enforcement of Council local laws that prohibit the consumption of alcohol in public places.

Public drinking often drives the anti-social behaviour and street disruption that makes community members and local traders feel unsafe. By combining the enforcement powers of Victoria Police with Council’s local laws team, we are ensuring a highly visible, coordinated approach to alcohol-free zones.

Our message is clear: public drinking in the Sunshine C*D will not be tolerated. Those doing the wrong thing can expect to be spoken to by police or council officers, which may result in alcohol seizure, fines, or further legal action.

We want everyone to enjoy our vibrant C*D safely. If you see any anti-social or illegal behaviour, please report it to police immediately.

VIPER Taskforce and To***co Licensing Victoria (TLV) continue to target organised crime groups profiting from the illicit to***co trade, with 100 stores now closed under new enforcement powers.

Since the powers came into effect on 9 September, investigators have seized more than four million illicit ci******es, 70,000 vapes, 3 tonnes of to***co, and approximately $1M in cash.

So far, VIPER taskforce and TLV have visited stores in Melbourne C*D, Tarneit, Truganina, Deer Park, Hoppers Crossing, Werribee, South Yarra, Prahran, St Kilda, Geelong, Footscray, Frankston, Dandenong, Craigieburn, Broadmeadows, Sunbury, Lalor, Ringwood, Caulfield, Boronia, Lilydale, Moe, Morwell.

The operation remains ongoing with VIPER Taskforce continuing to target illicit to***co stores linked to organised crime, including syndicates with offshore leadership.

Police are investigating a suspicious fire at a grocery store on Ballarat Road, Deer Park, about 1.35am.

Offenders allegedly entered the business before fleeing in a utility.

A man has been charged following a series of incidents across Keilor and Airport West at the weekend, where car windows were smashed and cars run off the road.

It is alleged the 35-year-old man drove into a grey Honda at a shopping centre on Westfield Drive in Airport West about 12.30pm on Sunday, 18 October.

The man allegedly then took off in a 2008 blue Mazda sedan towards the Calder Freeway.
