โCarry out your duties to the best of your abilities and accept criticism as part of the work you have chosen to undertake on behalf of the Governmentโ.
This was the message from Prime Minister and Minister for Civil Service Sitiveni Rabuka to civil servants gathered at the Fiji Civil Service Easter church service yesterday๐ซ๐ฏ๐ค
Ministry of Civil Service
Our vision is a world class civil service for Fiji.
The Ministry of Civil Service wishes to clarify the interpretation of the statement regarding the proposed flexible working hours made at the standing committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence.
The reference to an โ11:00am start timeโ by a local news agent was provided strictly as an illustrative example during discussions to demonstrate how flexible working arrangements could operate in practice. It should not be construed as a prescribed or standard reporting time for civil servants.
As mentioned by the Hon. Prime Minister, the Ministry has developed a Flexi Working Hour Framework. This framework allows Ministries to set flexible working conditions for Civil Servants that still ensure that service to the Public and all-round productivity is maintained in the context of their own operational arrangements.
The Framework allows Civil Servants to mitigate issues around traffic, employee wellbeing, childcare, etc.
As stated, this policy is being piloted, and formal guidance will be issued following the pilot and finalization of the framework.

๐๐๐๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ซ,
This author is most delighted to mark one of the most celebrated dates on the calendar - International Womenโs Day.
This season's theme, โGive to Gain,โ reminds us that the tide that lifts all our boats is within each of us.
At the Ministry of Civil Service, we are proud to be part of a rising generation of women civil servants helping redefine service to the nation (with grace, determinationโฆ and perhaps the occasional cup of tea โ๏ธ)
Pray accept the warmest International Womenโs Day wishes from the ladies of the Ministry of Civil Service โ duchesses and viscountesses in our own right, at least until the next staff meeting.
Until the next season,

The Fiji Learning Institute for Public Service proudly led the coordination and facilitation of over 25 civil servants from various Ministries and state agencies to participate in the Leaders LEAD Symposium 2026, aimed at strengthening leadership capability across the public service.
๐๐๐ฒ ๐๐๐ค๐๐๐ฐ๐๐ฒ๐ฌ:
* Shift from โDrift to Driveโ - lead with intention and purpose.
* Learn a little, do a little - apply growth consistently, not occasionally.
* Move from star performer to leader of leaders - multiply impact through others.
* Lead in all directions - up, across, and down.
* Courageous conversations matter - healthy conflict builds stronger teams.
* Polite silence is killing leadership culture especially in the Pacific - artificial harmony prevents real commitment.
* Name limiting behaviours - clarity creates accountability and change.
* Lead confidently through change - measure and strengthen leadership effectiveness.
