We're celebrating all things Agatha Christie today! 🔎📚

Today marks the opening of the British Library's major new exhibition, Agatha Christie: A World of Mystery, and we're delighted to be bringing the exhibition to communities across Buckinghamshire through the Living Knowledge Network. The exhibition explores the life, travels and remarkable legacy of the world's best-selling crime writer.

We were also lucky to welcome Richard Clarke, Director General at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, to Aylesbury Library today. Richard visited the exhibition, met the team and heard more about the wide-ranging work of Buckinghamshire Libraries and how libraries continue to support culture, learning, wellbeing and communities across the county.

Find out more about the exhibition and where it's touring in Buckinghamshire on our blog: https://www.buckinghamshire.gov.uk/blogs/libraries/category/by-hook-by-book/

Introducing Suspect 2, Vincent Valentine, played by Matthew Appleby.

Matthew Appleby is a local actor, musician and theatre-maker who has performed with various local amateur dramatics groups as well as at professional murder mystery events. From pantos, to historical reenactment, to Shakespeare, to musicals, Matthew enjoys any opportunity to have a stage. Away from the theatre, Matthew can be found gigging with a guitar at local pubs under the stage name Mappleby.

Matthew’s favourite Agatha Christie is ‘The Unicorn and the Wasp’, in which Agatha Christie joins forces with the 10th Doctor.

Introducing Suspect 1, Scarlett Fletcher, played by Emma Large.

Emma Large is a director, producer and performer. She has trained with Butterfly Theatre and Immersive Everywhere as a performer and studied at the University of Birmingham. Her directorial credits include The Role of a Lifetime at the National Student Drama Festival, Don Carlo for Aylesbury Opera and most recently assisting Dannielle de Niese on the UK tour of ‘The Marriage of Figaro. She is due to direct the Amersham Martyrs Community Play in 2027.

Emma has a long standing feud with Poirot as she believes it’s unfair that he continually finds evidence without telling the audience. This is probably why she likes The Rat-Catcher; all the clues are right there in front of you…

Will Scarlett be caught red handed, or be a red herring?
