🇲🇸🌍 On 1 June each year, we mark Overseas Territories Day, recognising the people, cultures, communities and contributions of the UK Overseas Territories.
This year’s commemorative activities, led by UKOTA, included a reception at the House of Commons, kindly hosted by Mr Speaker, Sir Lindsay Hoyle. Attendees heard remarks from Mr Speaker, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, the Minister for the Overseas Territories, Stephen Doughty MP, James Cleverly MP, and the Hon. David Burt, Premier of Bermuda and current President of UKOTA.
The programme also included a special Evensong Service at Westminster Abbey, where prayers were offered for the leaders and people of the UK Overseas Territories.
Montserrat was particularly proud to see young Montserratian Josiah Persaud representing the island through a steel pan performance at the House of Commons reception, sharing an important part of our Caribbean culture with guests from across Parliament, Government and the Overseas Territories.
A two-week exhibition is also currently on display in Portcullis House, showcasing the diversity, heritage, culture, environment and achievements of the Territories. Those visiting Westminster are encouraged to take the opportunity to view the exhibition and learn more about the unique stories and contributions of the UK Overseas Territories.
The Montserrat Government UK Office was pleased to join colleagues from across the Territories in marking this important occasion and celebrating the enduring contribution of the Overseas Territories to the wider UK family.

A wonderful afternoon of community in Birmingham.
On Saturday 16 May, Montserrat Voices and Moppa UK brought people together in Birmingham for Keep Hope Alive, an afternoon built around connection, conversation and collaboration.
The Montserrat Voices team created a space for our community organisations to share the work they do and explore how they can work together, alongside performances, discussion and the chance for everyone to network.
It was a privilege to hear from MOPPA UK, LavaLynx Family Catering and Events and KMC Event Planners, each bringing their own history and contribution to the room.
The energy spoke for itself. Attendees left calling the day inspiring, and many felt this is only the start of something.
The Montserrat Government UK Office was proud to support this event, alongside Nolda's Delicious Cakes, Touch of Excellence, Alliouagana Pearl and others who helped make the day possible.
Let us keep working together and keep hope alive.
