We are Stockport Sea Cadets. Developing children from the age of 10 up to 18 years old and giving them the best head start in life!

The Sea Cadet Corps offers many activities for cadets. All activities give the chance to achieve qualifications or awards. Some of these qualifications and awards are from external bodies, like the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) or the British Canoe Union (BCU). Where there aren’t any external bodies we train to a structured scheme based on Royal Navy standards. This is the case for Marine Engineering, Seamanship, Communications, Cook Steward and Meteorology.

Today some of our cadets had the opportunity to visit KNDS Defence UK. It was a fantastic day enjoyed by all the cadets, staff and parent. BZ to Emma, our host and tour guide from the company, who did a super job in showing us and explaining the military bridging systems and Boxer vehicles being manufactured. Also BZ to PO Kay from Salford unit for providing his units minibus and doing the driving. In the photo you can see us in front of a finished Boxer vehicle.

Last night saw the District Officer Lt Cdr (SCC) Smith RNR attend the unit for its unit review.

At the same time, the Bravo Company Unarmed Drill Team were down doing their final practices for the National Drill & Piping Competition. We also had a visit from the Air Cadets Officer Commanding Flight Lieutenant Connolly from 1196 Bredbury, Romiley & Marple Squadron - Royal Air Force Air Cadets who are temporarily at the unit for a period of time, we made sure to fly their ensign whilst they were onboard.

BZ to all cadets who attended.

Especially, well done to our LCPL cadet Bessie & Ordinary Cadet Ben who were part of the drill squads.

Today, cadets from across the Manchester District attended the Sea Cadets North West Area Drill & Piping Competition for 2026. Manchester District entered two teams in the Unarmed Squad Category with cadets from Tameside Sea Cadet Corps, Stockport Sea Cadets Unit, Royal Marines Cadets - Trafford, Sea Cadets Trafford, Manchester Trafalgar Sea Cadets, Salford Sea Cadets, Middleton & Chadderton Sea Cadets.

Our cadets have shown incredible dedication to their training over the past few weeks, and we’re proud to share their outstanding results:

🏆 2 Troop Combined Team (Manchester) – 1st Place
🥈 Manchester Sea Cadets Team – 2nd Place

We couldn’t be prouder of their achievements. Performing in front of large crowds in a highly competitive environment is no small feat, yet our cadets delivered with confidence, professionalism, and impeccable conduct throughout the day.

Bravo Zulu to all our cadets for their commitment and success!

A huge thank you to our adult volunteers who made today possible. Special recognition goes to Chief Petty Officer (SCC) Luke Norton, District Staff Officer for Drill & Ceremonial, for his leadership, and Probationary Sergeant (SCC) Ryan Knowles, Drill Leader and POC Morrison for their valuable contribution.

A fantastic day for our district!

Can you help Save Stockport Sea Cadets to stay open!

Stockport Sea & Royal Marine Cadets are facing an urgent funding challenge that could force the unit to close.
For years, we’ve supported local young people by giving them structure, confidence, teamwork and skills for life. Without rapid financial support, those opportunities could be lost.
We’ve set up a JustGiving appeal to raise the funds needed to keep the unit running while we secure longer-term solutions.
