🇬🇷Today, Greece celebrates Ochi Day!

The day commemorates Greece’s famous “No” to Benito Mussolini’s ultimatum on 28 October 1940, and stood firm in defence of its sovereignty and freedom. The day remains a defining moment in Greek history and a reminder of the courage and resilience shown by the Greek people during the Second World War.

The anniversary is celebrated across the country with parades and free admission to state-run museums and archaeological sites.

Danish Ambassador Jesper Vahr had the honour of presenting his Letters of Credence to H.E. President Νίκος Χριστοδουλίδης - Nikos Christodoulides at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia, marking the beginning of his tenure as Denmark’s Ambassador to Cyprus. 🇩🇰🇨🇾

In his remarks, President Christodoulides highlighted the shared values between Denmark and Cyprus, their close cooperation within the EU Presidency Trio, and Denmark’s contribution to the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus through out many years UNFICYP🤝🇺🇳⚖️

Ambassador Jesper Vahr is looking forward to further strengthening our relations, deepening our cooperation and building on the strong friendship between our two countries. 🕊️🕊️

Two Danish photographers take home top honours in Athens! 🇩🇰🇩🇰

Two Danish photographers were awarded first place in their respective categories at the International Photography Awards (IPA) 2026, held at The Benaki Museum in Athens on 11 October!

🏆Ken Hermann was named Event Photographer of the Year for his photographic series Kavant.

🏆Jakob Andersen received the title Nature Photographer of the Year for his work Ground Control to Major Tom.

This year's competition attracted more than 14,000 entries from 139 countries, celebrating outstanding photographic talent from around the world. 🌍📸🌄

A fantastic achievement for Danish photography on the international stage. Congratulations to both photographers! 🥳👏🥰

The national day is celebrated with a military parade, while families and friends come together to commemorate this important occasion 🥳 🎉🎈

🇩🇰🇬🇷On 28 September at 19:45, the Danish documentary Your Neighbour’s Son (Din nabos søn) will be screened at ΑΣΤΟΡCinema in Athens 🎬

Filmed in Greece by Danish filmmakers Jørgen Flindt Pedersen and Erik Stephensen after the end of the military dictatorship, the documentary brings Danish filmmaking into dialogue with a defining chapter of modern Greek history 📽️ 🍿

Through testimonies from victims and former perpetrators, it explores how young conscripts were trained to carry out torture under the regime.

Presented by CineDoc - Greece and Ελληνική Ακαδημία Κινηματογράφου / Hellenic Film Academy, the Athens screening is organised in cooperation with Amnesty International 💙🤍

🎤The Athens screening will be followed by a Q&A with filmmaker and author Andreas Apostolidis and Columbia University Associate Professor Neni Panourgia.

🇬🇷🇩🇰 On Monday, 28 September, the Skanderborg Kammerkor will perform at The Catholic Metropolitan Church (Duomo) in the historical old town of Corfu!

Conducted by Knud Haar Bagger, the choir will present a programme of choral music from Denmark, Sweden and Norway, bringing together different traditions and sounds from across the Nordic countries 🇩🇰🇳🇴🇸🇪

The programme will also include songs performed in Greek! 🇬🇷

The concert offers a wonderful opportunity to experience Danish and Nordic choral music in the beautiful surroundings of The Catholic Metropolitan Church🎼🕍✨

🇩🇰🇬🇷Danish actress with Greek roots wins Best Actress in Venice!

Congratulations to Danish actress Mathilde Arcel winning the prestigious Volpi Cup for Best Actress at the Venice International Film Festival! 📽️🎉

The Danish actress has Greek roots through her grandmother from Mytilene on the island of Le**os.

Arcel received the award for her leading role in Woman Unknown (Kvinde ukendt), directed by May el-Touky, who also took home the Golden Lion for Best Film 🎊

The cast includes Danish-Greek actress Marina Bouras, born in Athens.

Congratulations to the entire team on this remarkable achievement! 👏🏽🎬🎉
