Strong southerly winds will increase to severe gale force overnight before veering west to north-west and strengthening further to storm force 10, with gusts of up to 80mph.

Heavy rain may also lead to localised flooding.

Travel disruption is likely, and there is a risk of damage to trees, infrastructure and property.

Government departments, emergency services and partner agencies are monitoring the situation closely.

Islanders are advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor activity, secure loose items, and take extra care if travelling.
