The Trans-Kalahari Railway Project is gaining traction.
The Executive Director of the Ministry of Works and Transport conveyed his satisfaction regarding the progress achieved in the implementation of the TKR Project.
Project Joint Steering Committee meeting held from 13-14 August 2025,in Maun, Botswana.
The Joint Steering Committee for the Trans-Kalahari Railway Project held a meeting to prepare for the upcoming Joint Ministerial Committee meeting, which is set to take place on 15 August 2025 in Maun, Botswana.
The purpose of this meeting is to review the advancements achieved in the implementation of the Trans-Kalahari Railway Project.
The meeting was Co-Chaired by Mr Titus Ndove, Executive Director in the Ministry of Works and Transport (Namibia) and Mr Kgakgamqlo Ketshajwang, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (Botswana).

At the Namibia Aviation Safety and Security Conference, the ED, Kaapanda highlighted on the importance of the conference providing a platform for stakeholders and industry expert to be updated on the latest developments and to foster collaboration towards our shared goals. She further emphasis that the conference will also serve as an opportunity to proved update onncerrective actions taken so far.
"The aviation industry is constantly evolving, and it's is crucial that we. As stakeholders, remain proactive" said Kaapanda. Kaapanda further mentioned recent advancements in the industry as being the upgrading of Namibia's surveillance systems and the renovation of key air navigation facilities, such as the Hosea Kutako Internation Airport ControlbTower and the Eros Airport Control Center. Kaapamda further stressed that these upgraded not only modernize our infrastructure but also enhance the safety and efficiency of our airspace.
This conference come at a time that we celebrate Namibia's commendable performance in the Unibersity Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP) Continuous Monitoring Approach (cma) audit held in March 2024? At which Namibia score a 72.3%.
"However, as with any audit, we identified areas for improvement, I am pleased to report that NCAA has been diligently addressing these findings" said Kaapanda.
The conference, is scheduled for 3 days will feature speakers from across the aviation spectrum and panel discussions will offer insight into industry's pressing challenges.
The conference was attended by various stakeholders in the aviation sector.

Ministry of Works and Transport, Executive Director- Esther N. Kaapanda, delivered the Keynote Address at the opening of the Namibia Aviation Safety and Security Conference that is currently underway at NIPAM.
The conference is aimed at engaging industry stakeholders and experts on critical issues impacting the aviation sector, as part of the NCAA's responsibility under the Civil Aviation Act of 2016 and the State Safety Program.
The conference, hosted by Namibia Civil Aviation Authority , under theme " Strengthing Namibia's Aviation:A future built on Safety and Security will be held over a period of 3 (three) days.
