The 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 (𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐂) Field Offices of the 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞 are conducting the Final Election Registration Board (ERB) Hearing today, June 1, 2026, for the approval or disapproval of applications for voter registration in preparation for the November 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

This important activity serves as a crucial step in the review and verification of voter registration applications to help ensure that the voters' list remains accurate, updated, and reliable. Through the ERB Hearing, applications are carefully evaluated in accordance with existing election laws and regulations.

In preparation for the upcoming June 1, 2026 Election Registration Board (ERB) Hearing, COMELEC Surigao del Norte Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Alvin Prandy T. Canta convened an online meeting with all Election Officers in the Province of Surigao del Norte.

The meeting focused on the discussion of important guidelines, procedures, and preparations to ensure the smooth and efficient conduct of the ERB Hearing, a crucial process in maintaining an accurate and updated voters’ list for the forthcoming November 2, 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

COMELEC remains committed to upholding the integrity of the electoral process through continuous coordination and readiness among election officials.

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Surigao del Norte officially launched another voter education initiative, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐁𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐒: 𝑩𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒔 𝒏𝒈 𝑩𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒕 𝑩𝒐𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆, 𝑬𝒅𝒖𝒌𝒂𝒔𝒚𝒐𝒏 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒂 𝒔𝒂 𝑺𝒂𝒎𝒃𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒏, held at Sitio Baliw, Barangay Payapag, Bacuag, Surigao del Norte. The activity was spearheaded by Provincial Election Supervisor 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐲. 𝐀𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐲 𝐓. 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚, together with the OPES staff and all Election Officers across the Province of Surigao del Norte, in coordination with Election Officer 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐆. 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐨 of the Office of the Election Officer – Bacuag, this province.

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐁𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐒 is a community-based voter education campaign aimed at reaching Indigenous Peoples (IPs) and other vulnerable sectors by strengthening awareness of their voting rights, civic responsibilities, and the importance of active participation in the democratic process. The initiative reflected COMELEC’s continuing commitment to inclusive, accessible, and people-centered voter education, ensuring that every sector of society was informed, empowered, and heard.

As part of the activity, voter education materials and informational pamphlets were distributed to the participants to help them better understand the electoral process and the significance of their vote in nation-building.

COMELEC Surigao del Norte expressed its gratitude to 𝐈𝐏 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐮 𝐍𝐢𝐤𝐨𝐲 𝐇. 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐨, together with his community and fellow IP members, for their active participation, warm support, and cooperation in making the activity meaningful and successful. Their involvement highlighted the importance of unity and inclusivity in promoting voter awareness and civic engagement within indigenous communities.

The activity was conducted in line with the upcoming 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐠𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, serving as an avenue to promote responsible voting and greater electoral participation among grassroots communities and marginalized sectors.

At the same time, an 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐬’ 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 was also conducted with Provincial Election Supervisor 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐲. 𝐀𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐲 𝐓. 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚, together with the Election Officers of the province, to discuss important updates, preparations, and initiatives in relation to the forthcoming elections and ongoing voter education and registration activities.

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Surigao del Norte successfully launched one of its key voter education initiatives, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐆𝐀𝐁𝐀𝐘 𝐏𝐃𝐋: 𝐆𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐬𝐚 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐤𝐭𝐢𝐛𝐨 𝐤𝐚𝐡𝐢𝐭 𝐧𝐚𝐬𝐚 𝐘𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭 𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐲𝐨𝐧. This meaningful activity was carried out under the leadership of Provincial Election Supervisor 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐲. 𝐀𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐲 𝐓. 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚, together with the OPES staff, in close coordination with the Surigao del Norte District Jail personnel led by 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐉𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐉𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐏 𝐕𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐉𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢 𝐐 𝐎𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐨.

Project GABAY PDL is a dedicated voter education campaign aimed at empowering Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) by equipping them with essential knowledge about their right to vote and the electoral process. The initiative highlights COMELEC’s commitment to inclusive and accessible elections, ensuring that no voter is left behind. During the activity, informational pamphlets were distributed and meals were provided to the PDL voters, fostering both learning and engagement within the facility.

In line with the upcoming 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐠𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, the program serves as a vital step in preparing PDL voters to actively and responsibly participate in the democratic process.

Simultaneously, a 𝐕𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 exclusively for PDL voters was conducted through the Office of the City Election Officer, led by Election Officer 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐲. 𝐉𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞 𝐌. 𝐂𝐮𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐧. This initiative made voter registration more accessible, ensuring that eligible PDLs are given the opportunity to register and exercise their right to suffrage.

Through Project GABAY PDL, COMELEC Surigao del Norte continues to uphold its mission of promoting voter education, inclusivity, and active civic participation—reaching even those within detention facilities and empowering them to become informed and responsible voters. 🗳️✨
