Embaixada de Portugal em Ancara

A fadista portuguesa Sara Correia atuará em Istambul, no próximo mês de junho, no âmbito da 54.ª edição do Istanbul Music Festival, um dos mais prestigiados eventos de música clássica e contemporânea da Turquia, organizado pela Fundação de Istambul para a Cultura e as Artes (IKSV), que, este ano, decorrerá entre os dias 11 e 25 de junho.

Reconhecida como uma das vozes mais marcantes da nova geração do Fado, Sara Correia tem vindo a afirmar-se internacionalmente, levando a tradição fadista a públicos de diferentes geografias. Frequentemente descrita como uma intérprete de rara intensidade, a artista cruza, na sua abordagem, a herança do Fado com uma sensibilidade contemporânea, afirmando-se como uma das figuras centrais da música portuguesa atual.

O concerto realizar-se-á no dia 25 de junho, às 21h00, no Jardim do Museu Arqueológico de Istambul, um espaço de particular relevância histórica e cultural, cuja atmosfera singular proporcionará um enquadramento excecional para uma noite dedicada ao Fado. Este concerto assumirá especial destaque, ao encerrar a edição de 2026 do festival, constituindo um momento de grande visibilidade e prestígio para a artista portuguesa, enquanto protagonista da noite final do certame.

Esta não é a primeira apresentação de Sara Correia na Turquia. A artista regressa, agora, a Istambul, após anteriores participações que contribuíram para reforçar a presença da música portuguesa junto do público turco, consolidando o crescente interesse pelo Fado neste país.

A Embaixada de Portugal em Ancara e o Camões, I.P. – Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua I.P. unem-se à promoção deste concerto, sublinhando a importância de iniciativas que fomentam a presença da arte e cultura portuguesas na Turquia, num ano em que se assinala o centenário das relações diplomáticas entre Portugal e a Turquia.

Portuguese fado singer Sara Correia will perform in Istanbul this June as part of the 54th edition of the Istanbul Music Festival, one of Türkiye’s most prestigious classical and contemporary music events, organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV), which will take place from June 11 to 25.

Recognized as one of the most distinctive voices of the new generation of fado, Sara Correia has steadily built an international career, bringing this Portuguese musical tradition to audiences across different geographies. Frequently described as an artist of rare intensity, she combines the heritage of fado with a contemporary sensibility, establishing herself as one of the leading figures in Portuguese music today.

The concert will take place on June 25, at 9:00 p.m., at the Garden of the Istanbul Archaeological Museums, a site of significant historical and cultural importance, whose unique atmosphere will provide an exceptional setting for an evening dedicated to Fado. This performance will hold particular prominence as the closing concert of this edition of the festival, representing a moment of great visibility and distinction for the Portuguese artist as the headliner of the final night.

This will not be Sara Correia’s first appearance in Türkiye. She returns to Istanbul following previous performances that helped strengthen the presence of Portuguese music among Turkish audiences, further consolidating the growing interest in Fado in the country.

No âmbito das comemorações dos 100 anos de Relações Diplomáticas entre a República Portuguesa e a República da Turquia, realizam-se dois recitais de música erudita protagonizados pelo pianista Bernardo Santos e pelo violoncelista Burak Özkan, numa colaboração artística que simboliza o diálogo cultural entre os dois países.

Os recitais decorrerão em Istambul, no auditório da Faculdade de Educação Atatürk, da Universidade de Marmara, no dia 24 de abril, às 17:00h, e em Denizli, com o apoio da Câmara Municipal de Denizli, no Centro Cultural e de Congressos Nihat Zeybekçi – Sala Mehmet Gazi, no dia 29 de abril, às 20:30h, sendo a entrada livre para ambos os concertos.

Para além dos concertos, os músicos irão também orientar masterclasses dirigidas a público especializado, em ambas as cidades, promovendo o intercâmbio artístico e pedagógico.

O programa destes recitais conta com obras raramente tocadas dos compositores Joly Braga Santos e Anne Victorino d'Almeida, interpretadas por este duo luso-turco. O repertório incluirá ainda peças de outros compositores de referência, como Rachmaninoff, Dvořák, Mendelssohn e Piazzolla, proporcionando um percurso por diferentes tradições do repertório europeu, incluindo também a música erudita turca.

Estes eventos contam com o apoio da Embaixada de Portugal na Turquia e do Camões, Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua, I.P., inserindo-se numa programação mais ampla que celebra o centenário das relações diplomáticas entre os dois países.

Através destes recitais e das atividades pedagógicas associadas, reforça-se a dimensão cultural desta efeméride, sublinhando a importância da música como espaço de encontro, partilha e aproximação entre Portugal e a Turquia.

As part of the celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Portuguese Republic and the Republic of Türkiye, two classical music recitals will take place, featuring pianist Bernardo Santos and cellist Burak Özkan. This artistic collaboration symbolizes the cultural dialogue between the two countries.

The recitals will be held in Istanbul, at the Atatürk Faculty of Education Auditorium of Marmara University, on April 24 at 5:00 p.m., and in Denizli, with the support of the Denizli Metropolitan Municipality, at the Nihat Zeybekçi Congress and Culture Center – Mehmet Gazi Hall, on April 29 at 8:30 p.m. Admission to both concerts is free.

In addition to the performances, the musicians will also lead masterclasses aimed at specialized audiences in both cities, fostering artistic and pedagogical exchange.

The recital program includes rarely performed works by composers Joly Braga Santos and Anne Victorino d'Almeida, interpreted by this Portuguese-Turkish duo. The repertoire will also feature pieces by other major composers, such as Rachmaninoff, Dvořák, Mendelssohn, and Piazzolla, offering a journey through different traditions of the European repertoire, including Turkish classical music.

These events are supported by the Embassy of Portugal in Türkiye and Camões, Institute for Cooperation and Language, I.P., and are part of a broader program celebrating the centenary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
