The end of Spooky Season is almost here, and you're not the only ones with plans for Halloween. We have some too🎃👻
Starting this Thursday, residents and visitors can expect to see additional officers through the weekend as GPD works to provide a safe environment for Halloween celebrations, trick-or-treating, and other activities across Greenville. Officers will be deployed downtown and in surrounding residential areas to address increased pedestrian and vehicle traffic and respond to calls for service.
People planning to visit downtown Saturday night should be aware of several important safety and access changes.
👻 There will be secured event area with access limited to three safety checkpoints:
🍬East 5th Street/Evans Street
🍬Cotanche Street/Reade Circle
🍬East 5th Street/Reade Circle
🎃Before you head downtown:
🍫Bags must be clear or see-through. No backpacks will be permitted
🍫Masks or facial coverings may not be worn in open public areas within the secured event area. They may be worn inside of businesses
🍫Weapons, and replicas of weapons are not permitted
🦇Parking:
🍭Hodges Lot will be closed
🍭4th Street Parking Garage available only to Hotel Guests
🍭Ride-sharing is encouraged
🍭Ride-sharing pick-up and drop-off points: Five points Plaza and the intersection of 4th Street and Reade Street
While we will be increasing our presence downtown, that will not come at the expense of the rest of the city. Additional officers will be assigned to high-visibility patrols in areas that traditionally see increased Halloween activity, including off-campus housing areas, apartment communities, parking lots, and surrounding neighborhoods. Additionally, Saturday evening, GPD will also have additional officers and School Resource Officers patrolling residential neighborhoods during peak trick-or-treating hours.
