We are honored to celebrate Maximilian Mendoza, our Executive Director of Heartland 180, as a recipient of the A.L. Carlisle Child Advocacy Award from the Coalition for Juvenile Justice.
This recognition reflects Max's unwavering commitment to transforming the lives of justice-involved youth and their families through evidence-based, trauma-informed programming. His lived experience and deep compassion have shaped Heartland 180's mission to meet young people where they are and help them turn their lives aroundāone degree at a time.
The A.L. Carlisle Award honors individuals who exemplify outstanding advocacy for children in the juvenile justice system. Max's work demonstrates that meaningful change is possible when we believe in youth potential and provide the support systems they deserve.
We're grateful for his leadership, his heart for our community, and his relentless dedication to building a future where every young person has the chance to thrive.
Congratulations, Max. This award belongs to the entire Heartland 180 family and the young people who inspire us every day. š

Who makes a 180-degree turnaround possible? Every young personās journey is shaped by a network of support. Our partners in schools, courts, local organizations, and individuals from the community help us open new pathways for youth and families. This photo was from our elevated conversations event where the young men in our programs got the oppertunity to use the skills they have learned to network with professionals and business owners who were relateable to them like Dr. Moncure and Mr. Brunson. When we work together, real change happensāone degree at a time. š Thank you for being part of our communityās strength.
