Behind the Scenes:
Monday was an exciting day filming a rural ad for the Got What It Takes recruitment campaign. The ad campaign (paid for with grant funds the Michigan Association of EMTs secured) will continue thanks to Rural Health Transformation Program grant dollars.

Thank you to MAAS members Houghton Lake Ambulance Authority, Denton Township Ambulance Service and Mobile Medical Response for being part of the shoot.

It's no secret that cost margins are slim in EMS.

It doesn't help that the federal government is still calculating EMS payments using data from 1998. And that in 70% of Michigan counties residents live more than 25 minutes from the nearest EMS station.

All of these challenges make running an EMS operation more and more difficult. Read more in Bridge Michigan -

Modernizing the payment system will not reverse every hospital closure or immediately resolve every workforce shortage. But it would address a financial pressure that is making it harder to sustain emergency-response capacity across Michigan.
