BBB, Eastern New England helps people find businesses they can trust across MA, ME, RI & VT. Our mission is to be the leader in advancing marketplace trust.

We set standards for marketplace trust, provide business accreditation, offer consumer tips, and share reliable reviews to support confident buying decisions. The vision of the Better Business Bureau is to provide an ethical marketplace where buyers and sellers trust each other. We do this by:
-Setting standards for marketplace trust
-Encouraging and supporting best practices by engaging with and educating consumers and businesses
-Celebrating marketplace role models
-Calling out and addressing substandard marketplace behavior
-Creating a community of trustworthy businesses and charities

BBB sees trust as a function of two primary factors - integrity and performance. Integrity includes respect, ethics and intent. Performance speaks to a business's track record of delivering results in accordance with BBB standards and/or addressing customer concerns in a timely, satisfactory manner.

Prepping for winter is stressful enough, but when fuel prices spike, filling the oil tank can take a serious toll on a family budget. ❄️📉

People often ask us at BBB how they can tell if a business genuinely has their back. A great example of integrity in action was featured on WBZ / CBS News Boston with BBB Accredited Business, Metro Energy - M & T Oil Co.

Instead of pushing customers to max out their tanks at peak market rates, their team did the opposite:

✅ Called ahead to warn families about high prices to avoid sticker shock
✅ Advised partial 100-gallon fills to help customers wait out market drops
✅ Absorbed daily wholesale price jumps instead of immediately passing the cost along

That’s what BBB Accreditation represents: transparency, empathy, and putting long-term community trust ahead of a quick sale.

A little fall fun with the BBB Eastern New England team! 🍎🍂

We spent an October day at Bolton Orchards picking apples and pumpkins, enjoying fresh c***r and homemade apple c***r donuts, and getting some time together outside the usual workday.

Grateful for moments like these with the people who make our team what it is! 🎃

We’re back on the road with BBB Eastern New England—and this time, we visited Scarborough, Maine! 🌊🍂
One of our favorite parts of what we do is stepping away from the office to connect directly with our accredited businesses, learn their stories, and discover local gems along the way.

During our tour, we stopped by:
✔️ McLaughlin Appliance Sales Service & Parts
✔️Caribbean Villas of St. John, USVI
✔️ KCV Trailers
✔️ Indisco Kitchens & Baths
✔️ Classic Flooring

We wrapped up the day with a trip down to Higgins Beach and an incredible meal at Coastal Curry.

It’s game day! 🏈 As the Patriots take the field tonight, we at BBB Eastern New England want to make sure fans looking for last-minute tickets don't get sidelined by scammers.

⚠️ Ticket Scam Warning
We're tracking fraudsters using fake social media accounts and emergency sob stories (like sudden medical issues) to sell non-existent tickets.

Protect yourself with our 3 golden rules:
1. Demand a live screen recording of the seller opening the tickets inside their official ticketing app.
2. Never pay using Zelle or Venmo "Friends & Family".
3. Only use payment methods with buyer protection, such as a Credit Card or PayPal "Goods & Services".

If you spot a scam or fall victim, report it to us immediately at bbb.org/scamtracker.

Where are you watching the game from tonight?

Let us know in the comments. Go Pats! 🏈

Planning a wedding takes a lot of time, money and trust, especially when you're booking vendors months in advance.

A recent WBZ / CBS News Boston report about a wedding photography company shutting down is a reminder to ask the important questions before signing a contract. BBB's Paula Fleming spoke about the challenges consumers can face when a business closes before delivering what they've paid for.

Before booking your wedding photographer, ask about photo delivery timelines, who will photograph your wedding and what happens if the business can't fulfill its contract.

Read reviews, understand your contract and check the business at BBB.org before you commit.
