Lookout, world…⚡️ here comes Sergeant, Laura Williams!

She recently qualified for the 2026 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, which will be held in Nice, France this September. There she will compete among the best triathletes in the WORLD, taking on a challenging sea-to-mountain course that starts with a Mediterranean swim, a highly technical hinterland bike course, and a flat coastal run along the iconic Promenade des Anglais.

She started competing in triathlons 10 years ago after learning about Ironman from a teammate she biked across the country with and fell in love with the sport. Her training consists of 15-20 hours per week of swimming, biking, running, and functional fitness that all fits into the mornings BEFORE heading off to work as a Midtown Hills Precinct B-detail patrol sergeant. 💪🏼 She also serves in a collateral duty capacity as a SWAT Tech and as a member of our Maritime Unit.

“It takes a lot of time management, but if I’ve learned anything from the athletes I meet on course or officers across the department, it’s that we’re all juggling a lot of responsibilities and just prioritizing what matters most. For me, that priority is how fitness impacts wellness and how that enables me to serve my team at work and in my community,” Sergeant Williams said.

We will be following her journey closely and wish her the best! This weekend she competes in the Ashely Whitney Music City Triathlon, here in Nashville.

We are so proud of you, Sgt. Williams! GO GET ‘EM 💃🏻
