🗳️ JUST 6 DAYS LEFT TO VOTE! Tuesday, November 3rd is Election Day and polls close at 8pm. Your voice deserves to be heard by then! There are three ways to make your voice count:

🔵 Vote by mail: Fill out your ballot, seal it in the provided return envelope, and mail it back. Your ballot must be postmarked by Election Day.

🔵 Drop off your ballot: Skip the mailbox and drop your completed ballot into an official ballot drop box right here in Pasadena.

🔵 Vote in person: Prefer the old-fashioned way? Visit a voting center near you and cast your ballot in person.

💙 The passing of Dolores Huerta is a cause for both deep sadness and lasting pride. Her lifelong commitment to advocacy for workers and economic justice, along with her ability to bring people together, stand as her enduring legacy. Her strength and courage remain an enduring inspiration. She visited Pasadena many times in her lifelong struggle for equal rights. Her life shines as a challenge to all of us. to do the right thing and to stand up for others! May she rest in eternal power.

📣 We had a great Walktober event on Saturday, drawing hundreds to explore the distinctive local shops and businesses in the East Washington Village. How about we close Washington Boulevard for the afternoon next year?

Council meets twice this week. The first is a closed session to choose finalists to interview for the job of City Manager. We came up short in our first effort earlier this year, but on Monday (yesterday) we looked to select six to eight candidates to interview all-day on Saturday, October 31.

The regular meeting is an extremely light agenda a week ahead of the November 3rd election. While it's a crowded ballot, the City has only one matter up for a vote — Measure PFD, the parcel tax to modernize and augment our Fire Department in the wake of what we learned from the Eaton Fire. It would cost the average homeowner less than a dollar a day — and provide premium protection against not only wildfires and earthquakes, but for everyday medical response.

🏘️💲 Pasadena’s housing market — like much of the country — has become increasingly unaffordable, pricing young people and longtime residents out of the communities they call home.

This 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom house in Bungalow Heaven is renting for nearly $6,000 a month. Who can realistically afford to live here? That’s why building more housing, expanding affordability, and creating opportunities for homeownership are essential to keeping Pasadena a place where people can put down roots rather than being forced to leave.

🔵 Repost available in English, Spanish, and Armenian: Pasadena Fire Chief Chad Augustin has directed the activation of Red Flag Warning and Parking Restrictions within the city as high winds are expected. This alert is effective from 7 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, through 7 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17. The alert can be extended based on weather conditions.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are expected. Combined with dry fuels, this could create extreme fire danger and/or fire behavior. Please use caution with potential fire sources.

To allow for improved fire department access and resident evacuation, parking is restricted on posted narrow and/or winding roads within Pasadena’s urban-wildland interface areas. Please make alternative parking plans before the red flag is in effect. Vehicles in restricted areas will be cited and towed. Additional fire patrols have been added to our Foothill areas. Additional information, including the complete list of streets with restricted parking, is available at CityOfPasadena.net/Fire/Red-Flag-Parking-Restrictions.
