Over the years, Royal Oak firefighters have raised money for many organizations in our community. We have an opportunity to support one of our own firefighters next week.

Recently, one of our firefighters family suffered a tragedy. His cousin suddenly passed away in February, leaving his 2 teenage daughters without parents after their mother passed away a few years prior, due to breast cancer.

Our member's cousin always expressed after the kids mother had passed away, that if anything happened to him, his wish was that the kids would go to live with our member and their family of 5. Unfortunately, there was never anything set up legally. No guardianship, estate, life insurance, etc.

Our member has nobly taken Shayle (17) and Loghan (15) in to live as part of their family. If you have kids, you know what it takes to raise them and how expensive it can be. With these unexpected costs, a couple fundraisers have been planned to help set up Shayle and Loghan financially.

Monday, March 23rd, a fundraiser is being held at the Old Detroit Bar and Grille at 6870 N Rochester rd in Rochester. 30% of the proceeds will benefit Shayle and Loghan.

There’s also a GoFundMe set up for the girls.

Please consider supporting our friend, coworker, and union brother along with these two young girls.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

HB5290 and SB319 are identical legislation. 319 has passed the Senate and awaits action/committee hearings in the house. 5290 is waiting for a committee hearing and advancement in the house. Bipartisan legislation that puts our resident first! #

The Royal Oak Professional Firefighters, Local 431, held a coat drive this year. We weren’t as successful as we had hoped and did not collect enough coats to host a day to give coats away. Instead, we teamed up with Oakland County and Sheriff Bouchard in their “Coats for the Cold” and added all of our donated coats to their coat drive. Than you to everyone who supported and donated to help some kids stay warm this winter!
