A look back at the amazing work of our Girls on the Run students and teachers.

Another year, another great College and Career Fair and Carnival. Thank you to the many community partners and volunteers who made this possible. A special thanks to My Hometown and Latinos in Action for volunteering!

Backman's 3rd - 6th graders had the amazing opportunity to attend an assembly about coding video games!  They were able to play with a GIANT video game controller and learn about careers in the field!

Backman Entrepreneurial Artisan Program is in full swing. Kids are learning arts and crafts, as well as the business side of being an artist. They will be creating through the summer in order to sell their art at the Craft Lake City D.I.Y. Festival in August. Money goes to buying the students their own art supplies. Thank you to our community partner for supporting our students and making this experience possible.

Congratulations to Hollie Fernandez!  She was nominated and won an award for being an amazing para here at Backman!  She received several items from Western Governors University, including a certificate, flowers, gift card and some swag. 

Congratulations to Topanga Patterson, Maria Bahena, and Shawna Azbill who were also nominated and received a certificate and some swag! We love and appreciate our paraprofessionals!

Attendance is a priority at Backman. Classes celebrate 95% attendance in the class or greater each week with a cup of hot chocolate. We also give kids monthly and weekly prizes to kids, along with the opportunity for families to win gift cards. Good attendance is one of the greatest indicators of future academic success. Thank you to all families who are working hard to get kids to school.

L3 Harris volunteers came to Backman today to celebrate Read Across America! They read a book to all of our 2nd and 3rd graders and also gave them each a copy of the book to keep.

Fox 13 highlighted the amazing work of our talented music teacher Valerie Wadsworth. Not only is she teaching music but also helping students learn skills for when they have big emotions. Literacy night was a roaring success. Thank you to all the families who came out.
